Wow, it seems like just yesterday we were asking the fellows on the old blue Formula Continental EZboard if they thought it would be a viable idea to open up a moderated forum for FCs that people wouldn't be afraid to post on.

A few days of tinkering with UBB, and formulacontinental.com was up and running. That was 10 years ago this past September.

Ten years later, and ApexSpeed is growing leaps and bounds, and now covers every open wheel amateur formula car class. A couple of days ago, we surpassed the 10,000 registered user mark. About 4 months sooner than Kim and I bet on it, which means the site is gaining momentum even faster than we realize.

For the record, our 10,000th registered user is Richard Hearn, from Canton, CT. Richie Hearn on ApexSpeed? Nah...

It is a testament to the folks running it, as well as, the members. If you have trolled any of the other racing sites you know what sets this one apart - the Carters have built on what our FF Underground founder started. You get reasonably like-minded ADULTS who are interested in moving formula car racing forward and spreading the gospel. The passion is there on both sides of an argument but it is subject driven not personal and the Carters do a great job at keeping it that way. They also know what keeps the site in business and do a great job servicing the vendors that support us. Thanks and great job!

Open wheel grids seem to be in the doldrums these days whether we speak of pro, SCCA or vintage. I've always put it down to NASCAR mania having a far reaching affect. But if we have 10,000 Apex members - why? Anyone know how many active SCCA open wheel racers there are currently?
