    Default 84RF F2000

Hello, I just bought an 84 Reynad FC. I have looked at The Reynard Registry and found some great info there. But I can't find a Manual and set up sheets for this car. Also is there anyone making crush boxes for this car?

    Cheers, \

    Greg

    Greg,

I am currently rebuilding a "new to me" 84sf as well. There are some very knowlegeable people here when it comes to Reynards. I am sure Keith, Frog, or Larry will chime in to give you any info you may need.

As a side note, I find the search function on this site works very well. There are some older discussions reguarding spring rates, and set up info that I found very useful.

    Good luck,

    Dave

Jeff Handley just finished a long rebuild of an 84 that he ran this year.

    check with him.

He researched many many things with the experts and should be quite knowledgeable

Also Keith Averill is the God of Reynard knowledge.

The purple Frog is also right up there.

    All are on the forum.

    Hi Greg,
    Welcome to the club.
On the Reynard Registry there is a copy of a manual per se, and some great set up info as a starting point.
Set up may or may not be determined by what driving style you develop.
I ran this past season comfortably with a base setup that I got from MarkH.
Made progress thruout the season and finished at mid ohio respectably for me.
double check for the manual at my site,
    the reynard registry.
Also, Larry has available a front crush box listed in his catalog.
Feel free to email me if I can share anything I have with you.

    Default Catalog Copies

IF Larry doesn't come up with them I went ahead and made some copies for a couple guys and will keep one copy in case anyone wants what is close to a Reynard factory manual. They will be $12 apiece which includes mailing. Hope u guys are keeping the weight near 1000 lbs on the 82-84 to keep them competitive. I've seen Zink Z-10's with the weight of a tank and going nowhere while the guy sez it's the stiffest in the country or the safest in the country. Anyway let me know if you want a copy, again if Larry doesn't come up with his old batch.

I would think that an old manual would not be to helpful as far as set up goes?
Maybe the tires or just modern thinking made all the old notes, slower, than the car will go.
Stiff springs, until the rockers bend, way lower RH, and a modern VD rear wing with a diffuser proved to be the way to go in the SeDiv several years ago. The track records also proved this set up too.
Wheel alingment and other minor details may still be the same as in the old days but low DF and RH will make that car go.
PS buy new tires ....a lot.... that is also a good set up?

Call Keith Averill and have your pencil and paper ready to GO. He will give you all the setup info in about 180 seconds. He makes crush boxes too.

My Dad has an 84 Reynard FF that was converted to a SF2000 in 86. we recently had K-Hill motorsports install new PENSKE dbl adjustable shocks, and Van Diemen Rear wing w/ diffuser. He has a close connection with Keith Averill, and LOVES working on Reynards. if you're in the Northeeast, Kris Kaiser (K-Hill motorsports) is the man to talk to about updating the Reynard
