I am looking for a 2005. What are the large differences between them. I was under the impression this model range was the popular engine for f1000. Is this the case or any other recommendations?
Thanks
I hate needles, but I do like cash......thanks Gary.
There are also lots of engine models up on the net. I chose to make my own model so I would know what was modeled accurately, and what was just "eye balled".
Rob, what cad software will you be using?
Best of luck, and have fun cadin' up your car!
A simple cad model would be great. I don't need anything to build off just something to get an idea in cad. I plan to use solid edge or something simple like that to start out in.
Thanks for all the help.
Rob
The fsae guys set up a cad library to share files, check it out, I think there are several engines up there:

Also check out:

There are a few engine models up under the useful links page.
FSAE models are all 600cc engines, I think. DP cars has a simple Hayabusa model.
We could also use a cad file for a 1000 engine
After the sixth round of quizmasters on this thread...
Can anyone who has a decent GSXR model and is willing to sell it to me, please PM me or email to matt@kumosport.com
Thanks
There is a free one here, but it is not very accurate. There are blown up engines around for the asking.

I have a hand drawn model I will sell.
If someone can get us empty cases we could do an atocadr14 or 2000 version for no charge
there is one on 3dmodelcentral, I believe.
But as usual, its not a guaranty that it be a good model.
Might be easier to buy the motor, and draw one up. Then share with us
I would draw one up, if I had a motor to measure.

I've got a blown up, empty, 2007 Suzuki someone could measure. I'd like it returned.
I can throw in the wet sump pan cad file (without internal detail) for your trouble.
Tell me how accurately will you measure the engine mounting points ?
The 3D content central model is a very basic Hayabusa, maybe Dennis Palatov's.

Lee :If your question was directed to me we can measure the 3 mounting points (cylinder head , rear upper, rear lower) in the 3 dimensions within +/- .001" per foot of the engine being measured. Of course we do not know what the manufacturing tolerance allowance from 1 engine to the next would be. We will happily donate the dimensions to any homebuilder that needs them. Hope this will help increase the number of cars to hit the track.
Send me a private message and I will give you a Edrawing of what I used.
I am working on this & will have some good info in a week or 2. More info later.
I recently purchased a solid model, but it is not very accurate.

Any recent developments here?

What's the asking price, engine model year, what does the model include, which dimensions are most accurate? Least?
Vehicle Dynamics
I have two gsxr 1000 models that are pretty accurate, 04-06 and 07-08. They are not perfect, but are good enough to design a car around. I designed the F1k.07 around the 04-06 engine model. Admittedly the motor mounts are not exact, +/- 1/8", so you will still need a engine case to act as a jig while building a car. Everything else is close, +/- 1/4".
I will sell either of these models for $250, a bargain considering the number of hours I have put into the them. I can offer either in native solid works 2007, Iges, Step, Pro-e, STL, and a few others. Please check out the picture below.
I also have a GSXR 600 02-04 model.
Hm. Almost tempted..
How accurate are the intake and exhaust locations? Also in the 1/4" range?
Not sure if I'd be willing to drop a couple hundred bucks for that. I realize the time involved in generating a model, but.. might as well just CMM it if I can get my hands on a block..
Vehicle Dynamics
The ports are +/- 1/8" with respect to their global positions, and more like +/- 0.01" with respect to bolt pattern, and distance between ports. The sprocket, and shifter are also within +/-1/8". I used the engine model's exhaust ports to design a header that was fabricated by a friend of mine. He built the entire header, collector, and tail pipe without the car or an engine, and it bolted right into place perfectly, almost like we had welded the pieces together in the car.
All of the engine's bumps, protrusions, cover bolts, and other fluff are within the +/- 1/4" tolerance.
Mr 4WheelDrift has measured an engine which I sent him, he has finished and the data should be available for free. I don't yet have it, will check back.
Booya! Excellent!
When you hear somethin, let me know!

Lee,
Free is good if you know it has been verified. How much will it cost to change a design that has been done using an unchecked model. Dustin's model sounds cheap if you think about it that way.
Well from that perspective, I haven't been able to validate either. With no disrespect to either guy's modeling capabilities, I like to go along "Don't trust anything, check it yourself first." I'd have to wait until I have my hands on a block to get the critical dimensions in place anyway... but in terms of using a model to get a pretty good idea of things, free works for me.
Vehicle Dynamics
I believe that the new Phoenix FB was built around the model that Dustin is referencing.
BTW to offense taken, I have just done enough things twice twice due to bad info that cost me way more than the $250 that Dustin is asking for the model that has already been validated through it's use to build the new car.
Maybe Lee has total faith in his source and there is no worry.
Good luck
I'll let you know when I see the data.
Hi guys, I purchased Dustin's CAD model about 2 months ago. All the critical dimensions that I have checked are very close to the engine we measured on a bed plate. All of our engine mounting brackets fit on the model & in the car so it is pretty darn good.
My only problem was getting the right file format so that my older SolidWorks would open it up correctly. Dustin & I worked on this for a couple of days & once I got it up & running it was great. Thanks Dustin fo a very nice model.

It doesn't look like I'll have a complete 3D model of the '07/'08 generation Suzuki.
It might be time to start designing around a newer generation engine anyway.
True, the 09 is supposed to be smaller, lighter, and more powerful.
