Paul said he knew Phillips, I didn't totally believe him.
I also wondered what would become of Atlantic if Cart goes away.

i guess i kind of set this inmotion......
paul told me he was gonna call a friend
Who knew Paul was buddies with Phillips? Always nice to see F2000 teams/drivers getting mentioned in more articles, even if its about the possible demise of Champ Car.
By the way, from what I've heard, off the record, Atlantic should be okay no matter what happens. That being said, some of the rumors going around keep morphing and are nowhere near what will likely happen. As always, it will be interesting to see how this all shakes out. I for one am holding off on any race related travel arrangements for the next little while.

Yep, Paul was speaking the truth. Dave Phillips, Paul Reiffle and I ran FF in the NE together in the late 70's early 80's. I remember having a conversation with Dave at Nelson Ledges about the high cost of racing. I commented that the price of a new FF was around 5K-6K, and I could purchase a new Pontiac Firebird for that price. Dave's reply was something like "but look how much more you get when you purchase a new FF." I think at that time Dave was running an old Merlyn or Royale RP-3.
(Chip Ganassi showed up around that time in a new Royale RP-21. )
