Thank you everyone who has voted! Keep them coming!!!
Chazfin, sounds good, better than some of the other things I heard this year....
Chazfin, yup, that's it now.
Chazfin
Thanks Boys. I miss Chazfin and Grandpa Rand...
should i vote now, or in 2008?
In Boston the saying is vote early and vote often. Wait, that's Chicago.Or Florida. Or....
Big news sports fans, Chazfin, AKA Chief Fat Boy Charles Finelli, actually won a race today, September 16, at Watkins Glen. This weekend was the not particularly appropriately titled "Fun One", a double regional where the long course is used on Saturday and the short on Sunday.
Chuckie says it was his first win on something other than either a courtroom floor or the ocean.
A good field, featuring 6 guys from this seasons F2000 series, maybe 15 cars in FC total, a great 6 car dice for the win only disturbed by sports racing cars inserting themselves into the mix and lapped traffic making an art form of balking various leaders.
Craig Clawsons brutally unlucky season continued and while running at or near the front he found himself dead stick exiting the inner loop with no motor, reason unknown.
Chris Camadella ran the best yet in a single seater looking like a formula car driver after his championships in IT cars in the past.
Jim Moser shocked the regulars with a great drive to finish 3rd behind Charles and Luis Maza.
From the vantage point of the inner loop there were some fraught moments but as far as I know no damaged cars.
Want to experience racing in a blender ? Try a 65+ car field of FF/CF/FV/F500s on the 2.4 mile short course.
Qualifying was actually frightening. After a delegation of drivers from all 4 classes attacked the stewards they did the right thing and split us, FF/CF then FV/F500, into 2 seperate shorter, but far safer, races.
Some excellent FF1600 racing with a field totaling 30+ cars between the classes. Good stuff.
But Finelli losing his racing virginity, so to speak, was a highlight for many of us.
Well done Charles, good drive.
Come to Florida to celebrate this historic win? All in favor say "Heyo"
It looks like the campaign is working! Not that he doesn't deserve it. I am trying to get you a test with Blackhawk racing in their DP.
Being how this is Florida, and this is an election.
I spend days driving to every free WIFI I can find, and sign on, just to get a different IP address, so i can vote again, and again.
Thanks Everybody!
Yeah Froggy, that's how we do it in Florida.
"The election ain't over til your brother counts the votes!"
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Cole, Jim Moser of GTP fame and outright excellant road racer has put a lot of pressure on the Fat Boys to do Sebring and Moroso this winter. Look forward to a little coaching and South Beach.
Chas Fin
Mike Rand also had a win at the "Fun One" to add to his stellar race career. I think his most treasured trophy was his fleece vest indicating his 40 years as an SCCA member. (Was enrolled at birth since we know he can not be over 40.)
Great job Mike.
Trying to figure out how to get to the NARRC Runoff in a couple of weeks since my season already has gone over the six promised to my wife this year.
Chas Fin
This could be fun Chris, lets work on it. Still have to finagle this with wife. We have 2 young kids and limited number of weekends in the year plus theoretical matching funds with wife ie what I spend on racing has to be spent on vacations, home furnishings AND jewels (Remember we only buy our Jewelry from fellow racer and Apex Speed Advertiser GREGORY GEZARIAN purveyor of fine Jewelry and all around GOOD GUY) Shameless plug.
Lets try to put it together
Charles Finelli
Boys, in a few months you'll be crawling to get back in a racecar....
Florida is the perfect fix. It's after the holidays, it's warm, Sebring
is an awesome track to drive, and it doesn't make sense to go that
far and only do one event....Moroso is the week after. It's perfect!
GTP has a full trailer (4) going and with the Fat Boy crew there you won't
beat the hospitality. How can you not go?!
Besides, Charles is going for two in a row!
Driver Coaching anyone?
You have my vote as well.
Thanks again everyone. Keep the votes coming.
Cole, I voted for you on there. Have any new opportunities presented themselves now that you have won the series?
Sponsors Needed
Nothing yet. I have a few little things here and there but nothing that will secure next season.
I sent a ton of e-mails to DP and GT Grand Am teams with not too many responses and a few "How much funding do you have." I'm just going to keep sending them out over and over again until I get someone's attention, can't hurt.
Anyone ever mention the off-season sucks?
Cole,
Vote's in...
Looking forward to Satchell's debut at Mid-O at the WOR games in the #28 car in FC Trim.
Great video of the entire F2000 series!
Congrats
Mike
Yeah, the pressure is on him. He is reviewing my on-board from Mid-O Race 2 this year. He better keep up the winning ways of the "Dream Machine".
Thanks for the vote.
Chas,
Not as bad as the now famous"Dad,any money you spend on your racing is wasted money you could be spending on me"
