    Default A random factoid

Apex'ers have likely noticed that hitting F5 after clicking New Posts does not generate a new set of results, as it does on some/many sites. It simply repeats the current search result. The only way to generate new results is a fresh New Posts click.

It has always been staring me in the face, but this afternoon I took notice of the url created for the New Posts results. It includes an incremental search number. As of today, that number exceeds 17 million.

Over 17 million searches for new posts on Apexspeed. Since when, I wonder. Maybe when the site switched to vBulletin? Any way you slice it, that is a lot of searches.

The link I use load Apex is https://www.apexspeed.com/forums/search.php?do=getnew, so it's every single day.

This is my ApexSpeed URL which presents me with all new postings in the forums I track. Have no idea about how all the syntax works, but it does.

And both increment the search counter each time they are invoked.

I spent a few minutes trolling through old posts. It appears that the last major upgrade to the forum was in 2017. I wonder if the count started then.

    John,
I'll confess to at least a million on those clicks.
