    Default John Maurus

I regret to report the death Of John Maurus. John was a long time Formula Vee racer and supporter of the sport. John was also on the organizing committee for the 20th,25th,30th,35th and 40th Formula Vee Birthday party races. When he retired from driving he supported his sons driving career for several years and the turned his love of the sport toward stewarding and was active in that capacity until his sudden death. John was just one of those quiet behind the scene guys who was always there from the time I met him about 1970 till a week before his death when he talked to me about meeting at the Cendiv SCCA spring worker training seminar next month.

John & I "meeting" in the gravel outside T12 at RA (Oct. 1998)

He was a tough, but fun, competitor.
    Godspeed, my friend.

    Default John Maurus

A fine gentleman and spirited racer, we seemed to find ourselves next to each other on the starting grid often in the late seventies before I moved south. Great battles, always clean, I very much enjoyed racing with John. RIP, my friend.
