Note: This is not legal for any Formula Ford!!!!! I hate non compliant parts installed in Formula Ford engines. Yes we run legal engines where we race. That is the basis for the Formula Ford class.

What's the lifespan/quality on these?
As good as any other?
Thinking about it for a 7
Hey Roland,
Where in my post did I say anything about FF???...so the reason why I posted it on the vintage thread. I knew better than to post it in the FF classifieds. I would never knowingly sell this to a FF driver.
There are other cars like a super 7, racing Cortina, Morgan, vintage C sports racer, etc. that run the crossflow engine that may want more Hp.
In fact there may be a farmer in England who may want more torque out of his tractor...you ever consider that?
I also have over a dozen high lift Kent cams for non-FF applications. They are also readily available from Burton Power in England.

Bill we Vintage racers run the same basic rules that the SCCA supposedly run. It is not a Formula Ford if the engine is not legal. If you are intentionaly selling non compliant parts into the racing community simply say so. I made a statement so that everyone knows what you are selling is not legal for a Formula Ford. Cheaters Suck!

Would be great in many Bobcats and fork lifts!
Well Roland,
I can see where a scenario like say....we vintage racers would consider running cannister shocks on a CF in a vintage race under monoposto rules to surely be cheating....
I request that you be careful as to how you throw around the term "If you are intentionaly selling non compliant parts into the racing community...".....considering what it infers......This is how innocent people get bad reputations.
But yes, Roland, I guess I am busted....ya caught me......I readily confess that I am selling non FF compliant parts to the non FF racing community.....where do I turn myself in?
But once again I remind you that there is a reason why Apex deliberately has a Vintage classfieds section wholly seperate from the FF classifieds since many more classes in the "racing community" show up at a vintage race other than just FF.....but I guess if all you have is a FF hammer, all you see are FF nails.
So what you are then saying is that every time I list in the Vintage Classifieds a manifold to mount dual side draft Webers on to a Kent crossflow for a vintage C sports racer or a Formula B, or a 1100cc pistons for a Formula C....that I then have to put in a special caveat to announce to the world that they are not compliant to FF?....really???? Should I then go so far as to put a thread under the FF Classifieds to announce to the "racing community" that I am selling a non FF compliant item in the Vintage Classifieds?
Moreover, if I ran a 1600 Cortina engine with flat top pistons with a compression ratio of 12.5:1 (an engine I actually built in 1985) in a vintage C Sports racer, I would certainly have every right to try a Cheetah cam to go along with my non FF compliant side draft Webers and non FF compliant ultralight crank and flywheel.....since it is just a plain difficult to start a Kent with a high lift cam...And I am certinly not going to walk up and down the paddock to let every CF and HF driver that I am running a Cheetah cam in a C sports racer since it's none of their business and I would hope they would be too busy with what is going on in their own class to care anyway..

Exactly!
But Roland casts a very wide net when he says the entire "race communuty".
I could see him disparaging my name by going around the paddocks at Williow Springs and Buttonwillow telling all the CF and HF drivers that I sold a Cheetah cam to a guy who runs a 1600 Kent in his vintage tractor at tractor pulls in the midwest without first informing him that it was not compliant to FF.....jeez, I would never be able to show my face again at a VARA race in SOCAL ever again.

I don't really want to dive in on this one, but I spoke (via email) to Bill about these way before he posted them on here.
In that conversation he was completely open and honest, stressing these camshafts aren't FF-legal; he explained exactly why they aren't and included the pictures that he subsequently used in the post here. On that basis I really don't consider anyone should have concerns and certainly shouldn't be questioning his integrity.
Oh and I'm not Bill's "...farmer in England who may want more torque out of his tractor..." lol!
Well I guess I Suck. I have driven several MonoPosto events and sometime rented my car out with my 15+ year old Penske canister shocks in place. I know this is no excuse, but in Southern California they are allowed as long as they only have two adjustments. My shock guy has assured me that if can dig up the dollars I can get new shocks that are at least as good with no canisters. I also have to apologize to Bill. I never called or ment to call him a cheat. I just wanted to make it clear that the cam in question was not allowed in FFord. People build engines all the time with parts they do not know they should not use, and sometimes knowing they should not use.
