    Default New FE2 hopeful

    Hey everyone.

I've been dabbling in touring cars for a couple years now out of the midwest and think I've just committed to make the jump to FE2s after the runoffs this year. I'm purchasing a pretty well established package and plan on campaigning the car myself in 2025.

Do you guys and gals have any advice for a novice like myself? I reckon I'll spend the winter trying to learn the whole left-foot braking, right foot blipping technique on the sim, do you have a recommendation on which car most similarly represents the FE2 on iRacing? I'm thinking USF2000?

Excited to meet you all at the track soon!
    Cheers
    Derek

    Default Welcome!

    Hi Derek,

Welcome to the class! The FE2 is a fantastic car and overall platform to get into. The community of drivers is also amazing and we are all basically friends.

To answer your question, the USF2000 probably is the closest, but it does have a little bit more aero grip than an FE2. To be honest, I don't even try to do the blip shift on iRacing because it is second nature to me now, although for a new driver it will get you used to taking your hand of the steering wheel. There are some tracks that you will be shifting and turning, so learning to do that will be quite beneficial!

Again, welcome to the class and I hope when the time comes you will really enjoy the car. It's really fun to dance around in it at the limit!

    Thanks!

Ended up getting the car and completely nut-n-bolting the whole thing last fall. Just need a seat poured and then it’s ready to toss onto the setup pad.

Would someone mind sharing a baseline setup that I can shoot for to get started?

    thanks!

    Default Setup Info

    Hey Derek,
Welcome to FE2. As Gabe said, it's a great group of folks - I have made many lifelong friends in my 20 years of FE racing. I will definitely send you some base setup info and my contact info for any questions I can help you with. I just keep it on my racing PC (many racecar things like AiM don't get along with my primary Mac) so I need to pull some stuff from that when I can get to it - definitely in next couple days. Please PM me your email and we can open comms directly that way.

    Best regards,
    Eric

Well, Darryl beat me to it. I run mine a little lower, but otherwise very similar. Besides, Darryl is quicker than me, so listen to him first!!

    Best regards,
