Default Bargain - Swift DB1, extensive spares, many new parts

SOLD 5/12/2019 to a great guy - new FF racer!

Just got this car back ready for the track. 1985 Swift DB-1 that was run very successfully up until sold to a new owner who developed serious health issues and was never able to run it. I picked it up as a freshen up project and because I only had two racecars at the time......................; )

    I plan on having the car at La Junta May 3-5 to shake it down and get a new annual tech done. Looking to find it a new home. $12,900 at this point - more if I put a new paint job, etc. (See 5/5/29 post for latest sage update - motor inversion issues ; {

    Car has just received:
    New Pennon nose
    New Braille Battery
    New Fire System
    New Hans Friendly Camlock Belts
    New blue silicone water hose
New High Vis LED oil PSI warning light
New aluminum fire bottle cover, seat back, fuel cell top cover
New Camlock setup for nose and tail
New upgraded long Aurora Rod Ends for rear suspension allowing for additional camber when running the SCCA radials
    New Fuel Pump
    New Fuel Lines
    New Fuel Test port
New Starter shaft bell housing bushing

Prior to being sold to the family I bough from - the car received:

Fresh off the dyno Jim Justice Motor - according to the records it has not run a race!
    Scat Crank
    Forged Pistons
    Updated rocker stands
    Hi-Tech Headers
    Bosch Distributor, Petronix Electonics
    Lightweight Drive Line components
    Aluminum Diff
    Gundrilled axles
    Lightweight CV Assemblies
    Drilled rotors,with aluminum alloy hats
    Taylor Spark Plug Wires

    Other items of note:

Double adj. remote canister Penske shocks
    Protech Adjustable front sway bar
Cockpit adjustable rear blade style swaybar
    Hypercoil Springs
Two sets of authentic Centerline wheels

    Included spares
    1. Nose and side panel
    2. 4 extra wheels
    3. 1 front and 1 rear upright
    4. 4 control arms, three rockers - new or near new!
    5. multiple gearsets and other gearbox spares
    6. Inner and Outer CV joints, wheel bearings, sway bar parts
    7. Drive belts ,clutch discs, master cylinders
    8. Brake calipers, brake rotors and brake pads
    9. Ignition parts,
    10. Carb parts including gaskets, jets, linkages
    11. Large assortment of rod ends
    12. Barrel nuts for front and rear rod ends
    13. Starter, Swift Starter extension shaft, new bronze bushings for bell housing end
    14. Assortment of other swift specific spares

The negative about this car are just some cosmetics if you are picky - the side panels are 50/50 = look perfect at 50ft and 50 MPH - Nose and tail are excellent - just put your color on them.
Frame could stand painting - it is in good condition and floor is solid.
A Arms and rockers could all stand an afternoon of taking off, scuff sanding then a little satin black paint.

Come take a look this weekend at La Junta - I will shake it down and of course fix any bugs I find - I hope to have track video after that event.

Again - $12,900 is a lot of car and a ton of spares for the money - a proper setup Swift can run with anything out there - why pay more?

I have had good luck shipping across the country with a local husband/wife private contractor. Price is fair and they are prompt to CONUS.

    Thanks for looking!

    Default Updated info

Tried the car out this weekend at La Junta - 8th lap in was my best - 56 sec flat vs a mid 53 lap record. I thought that sounded pretty good for starters. But the car was slower next session, running rough and down on power. A lot of digging before the race showed all to be in good order. It sounded perfect in the pits. Well..................

Lap one turn one - we see the racing gods and I park it. Car now has a nice Justice head/valve train/RFD manifold carb. A good Swift pan, good pistons, flywheel and clutch, distributor. But........ we need everything in between - lost two rods - I assume something happened while it sat so long - probably will never know. Anyway - I will leave the ad up but I am shopping for a pro built short block or motor needing freshening.

I will take my time and find a good one - there seems to be a lot of 30 year old motors popping up with all the interest in the 50th. I want a good piece for the car - not just a motor.

I did get a call tonight asking what I would sell it for "as is" - I quoted $9,900

Drop me a note if you have a lead on a donor motor, short block or if you are interested as is?

Still a rough day at the track is better than most days anywhere else - no regrets!
