Can anyone share a starting point for zetec gearing at Blackhawk Farms.
If anybody's been out to ORP, would you be willing to share gearing suggestions? Since my car is such a mongrel of parts it would help if you also shared a comparison of gearing at a track I'm familiar with such as PIR (w/ or w/o chicane, Pacific Raceways or Spokane).
Thanks
Use your 3rd gear for Portland with the chicane for top gear and go up a couple gears from same for low gear......just a rumor I heard fromsome of the S2000 guys
Any gearing suggestions for Shenandoah 10:31 RP
If you do not get any info on this track at Summit Point, go to:
Formula Race Car Club of America
or to the DC Region of the SCCA
Nick, these are the gears we use at Buttonwillow
1 st 16.35
2 nd 17.28
3 rd 22.29
4th 24.27 or 24.26
4th gear selection depends on any wind effecting the track, or how dialed in the driver is! ;)
more often we use the 24.27

I have some old info on this, but the Zetec seems to require significantly different gears than the Pinto does. And, since I have not run the Glen since 1992, I need a more current gear set-up that would apply to the Zetec as used with the spec Hoosier radials. My R&P is 10:31.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
Dave,
You have email
Pikes Peak (PPIR) is new to us in two weeks so I thought I would seek the greater knowledge - I will be in an S2 but FC gearing will give me info for the decision. 10 31 r & p
Thoughts?

Looking for suggestions on baseline gearing at Shenandoah?
Thanks
Just as the title says! :)
(I did a search within the thread and didn't find anything)
Thanks!!
As the title says, does anyone have a good gear setup for Zetec F2000 that they have used at this track? I have never been there, and with the limited practice time, I would like to avoid having to experiment with gears during the F2KCS weekend.
Thanks for any help you can give,
I know nobody's raced there yet but but perhaps somebody can compare the speed (gearing) with one of the other tracks out here? The front straight looks pretty long on the track map so maybe I'll just play it safe and leave the gearing I'll be running at Spokane in the car. Any thoughts?
Can anyone give me an idea of what gears to start with at the NJMP Lightning Raceway for a Pinto FC with a 10:31 final drive and an LD200 gear box? It would be very much appreciated.
Yep ! That's what I was going to say. Depending on how well you can get off the banking you might go with a little higher top. Loved the track, hated the tow !
Hi Ian,
Last year with FRCCA at NJMP Lightning we used the baseline gearing suggested in this forum for Summit Point except for top gear where we started slightly taller with 25:27's instead of 24:26's. We were still working through some new car issues and can't really comment on gears 1-3, but we did find the 25:27 too short for the front straight and ended up going with 23:24 (our next available gear).

General consensus is to start with Spokane gears and go from there. That said, I believe only one ff has ran there so far and no 2 liters yet. If your running the scca event or skipping orp you won't even have to open up your box. Stop by our pits next weekend and we'll chat about it.
Does anyone know a baseline for Eagles Canyon Raceway, in Texas?
Thank you,
Chris
Has anyone run the road course at Rockingham and have any ideas on gearing for a 10-31 ?
I'll be running Pikes Peak Int at the end of the month with a Pinto. Looking for a base line gearing set up to get me started. Any suggestions would be welcomed!
Thanks John
I'm looking for Pacific Raceways gearing. Pinto, Avons, 10:31 R&P. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sheldon Lemoine
The silence is deafening. Too bad.
Sheldon, I ran SR on May 30, 2011 with a 10/31 R&P but on Good Year 250's, and I used 15/30, 16/24, 19/24 and 24/27 gears.
With that I clocked a 1.24.847 in the race for a first in class finish.
Track was dry with a warmish 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
But maybe that was because it was my birthday. Who knows.
I hope this helps, and hope you enjoy yourself this weekend.

Sorry I should have added: in a 1998 VD Ivey Pinto.
Thunder Hill [FC Pinto 10:31] ...
NEVERMIND ... I should read the whole thread
Unfortunately, I didn't see this until we were already on route to the track and I never found time to make the change. I'll definitely try that gearing next time out.
My guestimated gearing wasn't terrible so I don't think it slowed me down too much. This was the first time out with the car and only my second time at PR so gearing was the least of my issues.
Thanks,
Sheldon

Looking for Homestead gearing for a Pinto FC , Using Nascar turns 3 & 4. I have never run there, but I do have this old list from somewhere wondering if it is correct:
17/33, 20/31,22/28,24/26
Thanks
Bob
Does anybody want to share which gears are best for Laguna Seca, using a FC Pinto,
10:31 RP
Thanks, Michael
Well, I guess not!
Do not know......but will let you know when I find out mate......
FC with 10:31
17:34, 19:31, 21:29, 23:27
These were suggested to me by a local competitor
Thank you Greg and Ken.
It is appreciated.
Michael
What's the gearing for the new Thompson Speedway? I'd start with the WGI 4th and maybe a NHMS 1st. The first righthander behind the dirt hill is the beginning of the long straight and will need the correct 2nd.
Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a baseline for Spokane in a Zetec VD with lastest SCCA club map and 10:31. I'm not sure if anyone's run a zetec there but thoughts comparing to pinto (if there's any difference) might help as well!
And also any feedback on the recommended gears for Portland?
If you don't want to share publicly shoot me and email or PM.
Thanks in advance.
Zac B.

What does the ztec rev to ?
The F2KCS mapping (IIRC, the same as the latest club map) wants to be shifted around 6800, at least mine does.
Spokane
16:31, 20:30, 23:29, 24:26. With 10:31 and Avon tires......I would have to check but I am guessing we are at 6600-6800 at the end of the straight
Thanks Dave
Portland is the same except I run a 19:21 top gear
Zac
Looks like we will be running on back to back weekends with Pacific.....so......I run Spokane gears at Pacific
Portland baseline is in the link on the first post in the thread.
I will get you Spokane gears when I get to my computer that has them on it, sometime between now and may ;-) but you can figure it out from slow speed is 37 mph in the first hairpin, top speed should be about 143 mph, and the exit of turn nine is about 80 mph.
Edit: my dad beat me to it
Thanks Guys :D
Looking for 10:31 FC or S2 gearing guidelines for Eagles Canyon next week. Anybody have a good starting point?
TIA
JM
Sorry Jay
I forgot, going to find them now
Scotty
This is aimed at the relatively few of you that have actually run the full 5 mile layout. Does the standard T-hill gearing work, or are you finding that the new back half requires taller ratios?
Anyone have any info on what gears to run for the new Thompson 1.7-mile road course? Tires are F2000 Championship Series radials, 22.4" diameter. Zetec F2000.
10/31 CWP gears preferred, but can convert from other CWP's.
Thanks in advance,
I ran 18/33, 20/30, 23/29, 25/27. If I run there again, I would use 18/33, 21/30, 23/28, 25/27 to allow no shift out of 2nd into 3rd after oval and also take 2nd-last corner before straight in 2nd.
