OK guys looking for a FV for a friend. The main issue is that he does not fit in a normal sized FV, 14 to 15 inches wide at the frame. He does not want to race in vintage he wants to race at the regional level.
He needs something between 16-17 inches at the hips and wider at the shoulders. He tried to fit in my Caracal D with the Fred Clark fat boy mod and it is still not enough.
So what are our options when it comes to a FV?

If he is content with Regionals, a D-13 should be the right ticket. 16" between rails and depending on your friend's height, the seat could be raised and he could be above the rails at 24 inches- or wider.

race.
The glass seat in the car could be removed and
a bead seat fabricated to give more hip room.
The upper shoulder area is the area I can not
verify.

Vortech was designed around Brad Stout regarding width and, I've heard, built to accommodate taller guys if necessary.
A Lynx-B / Caracal-C with the main frame rails notched at the hips, tall roll bar & the floor dropped 1" under my butt fits me nicely.
I'm 6'3" & 230#.
