My recollection is that the oxygen sensor is of the wide band design, and therefore the fuel strategy stays closed loop at all times. Disclaimer: I am not 100% confident on this; interested in what the smarter people have to say on this.
If I recall correctly I think the only thing that changes how the O2 sensor works is water temp: like if it's below the minimum operating temperature (which I think is 167F). Even then it's not as big an issue as if you start running above 210F on water temp (where the engine loses power noticeably).
Works on water temp? How would that figure A/f ratio?

Yes, but it's not from the Fit. If my records are correct the part # is 36531rcaa02 (I think it's an early 2000's Accord). The best pricing I've been able to find is from HPD.
If you've got the fault light hooked up you should be getting a code whenever the engine is running (7 flashes) if the O2 sensor or the wiring is bad.
