In collaboration with AF1-Racing, the owner of two G1 race cars, we competed at the Hoosier Tire "Polar Prix" Super Tour with drivers Yarin Stern from Israel and Miguel Matos from Portugal.
The action started on Friday, February 8 with a practice session, followed by a qualifying session in freezing weather. In the practice session, Miguel drove the best lap and a new Formula 1000 lap record at COTA - 2:07.7!

In the qualifying session, Yarin Stern clocked 2:09.2 mins, giving him pole position for the category and P5 overall. Miguel Matos finished P2 in the category and P9 overall.
On Saturday, the second qualifying session was held on a wet track, where Miguel and Yarin clocked 2:22.8 and 2:24.4, earning them P1 and P2 respectively.
Later on Saturday, Race 1 took place on a dry (but very cold) track. Yarin and Miguel displayed impressive driving skills and came home in P1 and P2 respectively for the category, and in P5 and P11 overall. They were racing against 36 other cars, some from higher performance categories, including Formula Atlantic, which clocked laps 6-8 second faster than the G1's cars. That put the G1 drivers' achievements in an even better light.

Race 2 was held on a wet Sunday. Yarin started in P5 but managed to overtake 3 cars on the first corner, putting him in P2. A few laps later, he was neck-and-neck in a battle with the race leader, eventually managing to snatch the lead. From that moment Yarin led the race all the way to the finish line, coming home in P1 OVERALL! It was an unforgettable driving display as he overtook a number of back-markers.
In the second G1 car, Miguel displayed a similarly unforgettable show of driving skills. He started in P11, and after only a few laps was already in P3 overall! But he suffered from a bent pushrod after a car collided with him on the first corner, and so had to retire after 5 laps.
