Restoration Project: The Piper DF5- Twice Runoff Winner

While not R.K.'s DB1, or Barber's Caldwell. or Loring's Eagle, the Justin Pritchard Piper DF-5 was an iconic Formula Ford that dominated the class for a few years from 2001, winning the Runoffs in 2002 & 2003. The car was crashed and parted out several years ago, but I have the frame and many parts from the original car, including logbook. I do not have the time nor resources to get this fine car back on track. Nick Fuhs is certainly capable of restoring the chassis to it's original condition, but other good fabricators could certainly do the same. Fast Forward has all the parts, or could certainly reproduce as necessary, as could Nick.
The car would still be a front-runner in SCCA or FRP racing, but is also SVRA legal, and welcomed by more vintage groups every year. Perhaps some enthused racer could get it back on track for the 50th Birthday Party.

It is a major job, certainly not a deal, but an opportunity for someone who would put value in owning an iconic car.

Man. I was very close to buying that before previous owner did.. it was in need of a restoration then.

Too big a project for me now but I totally dig this car.. definitely worth saving if you have the time and money

Doug Learned of Piper can repair the chassis and provide any and all hard parts. We have all the original molds for the bodywork, and have made at least a dozen sets for Piper, plus lots of repairs in the original molds. All bodywork parts and repairs must be arranged through Doug, but that's easy and quick. For less than the price of a new bare frame you can have a remarkably complete restoration project.

I just saw Art's classified for the Piper adapter module. That adapter module would make this project much more viable.

My enthusiasm to keep this project swings regularly, but I am currently in a mode to move it out.
