The New England Challenge will be run as part of selected Regional race events in NEDiv. The aim is to encourage class growth and raise the competition level amongst the current drivers. The series will also try to make Formula Ford attractive to new drivers.
NEC SCHEDULE
April 26/27 Summit Point
May 10 Lime Rock Park
June 21/22 Pocono
July 12/13 NHIS
August 2/3 BeaveRun
Sept. 13/14 Watkins Glen
Since this is the first year, we have negotiated slightly different arrangements for each event. At Lime Rock Park and NHIS, we get our own race group. At Pocono and BeaveRun, we will get our own race group IF we have enough entries to justify that. At Watkins Glen and Summit Point, we will be mixed with the Continentals, but will get a split start if we have sufficient entries.
NEC FORMULA FORD CLASSES
To be compatible with current NEDiv Formula Ford and Club Ford rules, the series will run three classes at each event: Formula Ford, Club Ford with no spec tire, and Club Ford with the NARRC/MARRS spec tire rule. The three classes will be officially recognized at all events except Summit Point. At Summit Point, the Club Ford with no spec tire will run as a Formula Ford for the purposes of the Regional event, but those Club Fords will be recognized as a separate class for the NEC points and awards.
AWARDS AND SURPRISES
We are also attempting to have reserved paddock space at all of the events so that the Formula Ford drivers can camp together and socialize as a group. Other surprises are also in the works. It will definitely be a fun time together for everyone.
Discussions are also underway with various merchants for product and service awards to be given at each event and for the overall series. We already have several sponsors lined up and will make an announcement in the near future.

Bob,
You are doing a great job!!
I can only hope that the drivers will show up to justify your hard work. I'm planning on making every event except NHIS which interferes with a family vacation.
Best to us all,
JD

OK gang, let's get those cars out and ready for Summit Point on April 26-27 and Lime Rock for May 10.
I'm really looking forward to a good field. Please contact me with the time you will be getting at the track at Summit Point, I have an awning that can fit 2 more cars under it and have an enclosed trailer with most of your tool needs.
First come first served.
Best,
JD bumped
