Ok who is going to big show at RA at the end of July?
The SUPERTECH team will be there in full force, test day and all.
Maby it wont rain [img]smile.gif[/img] but if it dose at least we can save $ on tires.

Maybe it's because it's 4:15 in the morning and I'm just getting home (yes, I finally found a social life... at least for one night, sadly it still involved cars though), but that totally cracked me up Mark. "Hey yall, who all is going to big show at RA?" LOL, sorry, but I couldn't resist.
RAMotorsports will be there as well. Possibly running the test day since the car was mostly disassembled and many parts replaced (arguably the newest old car out there by now!). It'll of course need a good shake down, and I might finally get a dry lap if I have an extra day for the weekend! We'll see ya there!

Wish I could be there but I don't think the Reynard will be done getting it's new coat of red paint by then. I'm shooting for the RA event on Labor day.

I'm trying to figure out mid-distance in transit refueling techniques to allow me to get their before the month ends. If I leave this Friday, I just might make it! :D
We have contracted w/several fuel trucking concerns between here and Alaska to help us meet our expected fuel usage volume. Right now our crack team of engineers at 10TENTHS Motorsport are working on the quick connect/disconnect couplers for the fuel trucks and the Expedition. Our first attempts at coupling at 60mph have been quite exciting. [img]tongue.gif[/img]
I figure I'll blow the rest of my race year finances just on gas for the Expedition to get to RA. If I'm lucky I'll have a few bucks left for a lunch or two. :D (Don't tell the crew,..... their probably expecting beds or something to sleep in once we get there)
I really want to get back out on the track and have some fun w/the rest of the SE CFC gang again. I've been going through withdrawls since RR.
I will keep you posted on whether or not Hard Rock Racing will rock and roll into Braselton.

Hey..... maybe they have already placed them in the CFR hall of fame, and their just waiting for your return to get your foot prints in the cement. Well, if they need help with that, I have a couple extra buckets to help out [img]tongue.gif[/img] Perhaps we can do it right before qualifying!!

The Frog is trying to find a way to come to Hotlanta. I usually skip Hotlanta to do the Daytona Double...but Ms. Frog aint doing Daytona in August again.
One red swift has moved on to a life as a Solo 2 car in Alabama. :(

Team Aiken is going to run the '01 Pinto VD in the SARRC with Richard driving at Road Atlanta. So he will be in our group... just the wrong class. They report that they may do Daytona also, to get Richard qualified for the SIC.
If GR is going to haul to Atlanta, I have to make it.
Ennis, do I have some jet ski stories from the weekend. [img]smile.gif[/img] Of course Marshall was the fastest, as usual I suffered from a weight penalty. Marshal was so thoughtful, he always made sure the 11 gallon tank was full on my speed runs. Although the French judges gave me the most points for riding while standing on the seat with no hands, something I learned in CFC.
But, just a word to the wise, DO NOT approach a nuclear sub on a jet ski. Homeland Security finally released me yesterday, but the 50 caliber holes in the jet ski required a lot of racers tape.
I will be at Road Atlanta one way or another...the Swift is still being reassembled, but I'm assured it will be ready. Things are really crazy here at the time... I may need to be reassembled before that weekend.... [img]smile.gif[/img]

Ennis, It seems like ripping out bathrooms is not the right plan. Both chassis in your shop are covered with red clay and concrete dust. Shouldn't you be expanding the shower to be big enough for a VD chassis?
I couldn't believe it when Marshall told me how much he was paying you to prep his dad's car. I didn't even get to bid on that project.

Doug, You have to make it. We are running out of Swifts to beat on. And you are our designated Homeland Security on Saturday night. Due to their probation rules none of the other CFC drivers are allowed to carry guns... you the man. But, do not bring the snorkle for that Yellow Submarine. We want a dry race.
GR, We are group 7. That means you won't get back to N. Cuba before August. Maybe you should stop by Daytona on the way home.

If they have a test day for Daytona, I'll probably do it. That means I may have just enough time to get home and turn around in my driveway.
If I do get to RA, I will also probably want to do the test day. At least that way, I'll know where you'll probably lose me on the track.
When would you plan on leaving for RA? Will you be using back roads out of Tall to I-75 somewhere in Ga??

Ahh come on Frog, after all the good things Marshall had to say about you you have to go dissin me for running Solo II in the Swift. ;) Actually while it will see some Solo II use it will see more Solo I and school use in the next year or so and no one should be too surprised if me or my wife turns up in CFC in the future.

Did Solo 2 with a formula car back when it was called autocrossing.
I am a strong proponent of doing the full Solo 1 season in the SE. I did Solo 1 in '98 with my first FC. It will really get you set up nicely for drivers school. And you get familiar with all the SE tracks, without traffic. It is a plan I recommend. A lot of seat time for the money. Maybe the most important thing you will learn in the solo side is how to prep, and do all the traveling, and paddock set up, etc.
And from what Marshall says, once your bride joins CFC, the rest of us might as well retire.
DowisMotorsports will be looking forward to playing with all the CFC,ers at RA. I hope I can do better than last year ( first lap I got punted in T6 and watched the rest of the race) Weneed to get a paddock area setup just for CFC.

GR, I’ve been lurking on this site for a good while trying to decide if this was the direction I wanted to move and it’s become painfully obvious that the SEDiv CFC group is as you say ….. “Special.” That also played a roll in why I bought Marshall’s car. Why be “normal?” Speaking of Marshall, is it possible not to like that guy? I enjoyed several long talks with him before we met and really enjoyed spending a few hours with him at his Mom & Dad’s. I felt bad for him the night I first looked at the car. I was deep in thought and probably didn’t change expression or show any emotion for the first couple of hours. Anyway he seems like a great guy and I hope he kicks some serious butt running Pro.
Frog, while I have driven several open wheel cars the seat time has been very limited and my wife has had zero seat time in them. Your thoughts here pretty much mirror my thinking and plan and it’s very nice to have you confirm that I’m heading in the right direction. The fellow that was with me when I bought the car will also serve as my coach/instructor and I hope to learn all I can from his 50 years of racing experience.
Marshall is right about my wife, she doesn’t take kindly to having any man in front of her. She seems to have a bigger set of -- ah – somethings than most men.

This is shaping up to be a party. Maybe to save the other serious racers from ricochets from our festivities, Mr. Panoz will let us paddock over on the "pro" side.
I sincerely hope you don't experience those side pains! I certainly did at my first race in CFC, took me 4 months before I could get in the car again... ouch!Quote:

Glen's right though, everyone in the group is "special" in their own twisted way. You should come out and if nothing else get to meet your future group of competition/friends/parts-dealers-at-the-track while getting to see crazy people with dyed hair! Glad to have you aboard and best wishes with your new race car, you picked a good one!
Court, I'm right there with ya, my one race at RA in the CFC(FC) was from 3rd to 1st overall by turn one, and then ended up watching from turn one the whole race... (the weekend of broken suspension partS)
Doug, glad to hear the car is nearly repaired after that nasty incident at RRR. I've been missing the other yellow Swift. And I hope you're ready to counter Frog's comment about beating up on Swifts. hehe [img]smile.gif[/img]

I'm not sure we are going to buy "I need to paint my car" excuse. Thats right up there with having to do your hair. Jeez, have you seen the average CFC car? Decals, think decals, strategically placed decals. Bring it, and we'll paint it for you while we are waiting on the first six groups. I'm sure we can find a fresh pine top at the track. When Court flys in, we'll have him clip a few off.
Oh yeah, did we forget to tell you that your color scheme has to be approved by the CFC architecture review board? There is a slight fee to cover the cost of the board meeting...and then you have to reserve a color scheme, another nominal fee.
Hair dye colors are open in the SE Division, as long as it matches your car.

Top's car is red, LaTerra's is jade & black, Court's is red & black, GR's is back in black (in honor of AC/DC), Jewett's and Matthew's Swifts are both brightly yellow (Doug's has hull depth/displacement numbers up the sides, and Richard's had black radiator cut outs), Hatheway's Reynard is silver with cool purple wings, Frog's is Sears Kenmore refrigerator white & with mandatory purple wings, and Sir Montfort's is metallic Corvette powder blue w/ American Flag rear wings.
Hum...Green, pink, orange, coral, navy, and lilac are not taken yet. [img]smile.gif[/img] (Almost sounds like Tab's car...)
Oh yeah... it would break the CFC rules if your suit matched your car. Sorry we forgot to tell you, hope you haven't ordered it yet.

Guess I shouldn't mention that the trailer will match the car! If is wasn't for two family reunions this month I would be at RA on the 27th. Just got my regional SCCA license in the mail-can I race while the ink is still wet? Can I pay the car color commitee in beer and Margaritas?
If they sell it in a bar, then it is legal tender. Hell, if they sell it in a 7-11 we will take it.
I'm in terrible trouble!!! I just realized that I am guilty of breaking code 13B Article 4, Section 9, line 125-142. My suit is yellow and black, and so is the car... My IT car was the same yellow and black as well. My daily driver street car is the same yellow and black. For the record, it's Competition Yellow Mica (CYM), I can give you the story behind it later, but back to my plea... I just hope we can make an amendment for previously existing team color coordination (ever notice all the yellow shirts walking around RAMotorsports' paddock, trailer, and hospitality?
On a serious note, I would love to see Marshall in the SE-3 back on track! I ran with him at driver school not too long ago (actually, different groups because I was in the IT-7, curiously enough finished just ahead of Richard Aiken in the Mustang, in the race). I've never gotten to run against Marshall and want to see first hand what it takes to go pro.
There are also rumors around these parts that an old '88VD may make a surprise appearance at RA in CFC...

Sorry to be so late joining you guys, but I've been busy pulling AS Camaro parts out of the grille.
The late fee doesn't kick in until after next Wednesday (7/17), but as of 0830 on 7/12 the CFC entrants are:

Also in the group are 1 FA, 2 FC's, 1 S2000 and 1 DSR. As of this date, there are NO (0) FM's!
BTW, on-line registration is HIGHLY encouraged. Besides beating the late date (you don't need to have a check until you actually show up at the registration window), it makes it a LOT easier for the registrars to read the forms.
As an Atlanta Region officer I like the idea of keeping y'all together in the paddock. Once you've all arrived and are set up, we can erect signs warning the general public to keep their distance if they're concerned about keeping their sensibilities.

Hey GT1, I like the sign idea. My biggest problem with the track is finding my way around the paddock. But then again, everyone else will see how little prep I do if I am close to them. They might actually ask for some help or something when they see me sitting there sipping an Gatorades and eating hamburgers instead of working on the car. As we say in the aviation industry " Kick the tires and light the fires."

More CFCs registered than all the other classes in the group combined. I can just read the headlines now, "CFC saves open wheel racing in the Southeast". Instead of our usual "5 CFC drivers arrested at local eatery".
Maybe we can petition for a split start. That way Matthews can't start 6 cars ahead of the next CFC. [img]smile.gif[/img]
Another shameless plug: You CFC pilots around the country really should consider coming to the American Road Race of Champions at Road Atlanta in November. Great awards and contingencies, and no Mazdas, FCs, FAs, or FVs. And the chance to say you are the best CFC in the country.

Richard, I finally had time to read the post and assuming everything goes ok I will finally be home tonight after 2 or 3 weeks of being gone to work on the car so it is killer fast for Road Atlanta. I noticed your post about the rule you broke...

could it be 13b (Richard's Mazda RX-7 engine of course) 4 (4th gear) 9 (9k rpm although that sounds a little high for the 7 even) and 125-142 the mph its good for?

Hi, Mark (and all you FC guys). It looks like I will be able to join your race group at Road Atlanta. My car (Ralt RT-5 FA) has been off the track for a long time, and I'm going to need to dust off a lot of cob webs, but I'll do my best to steer clear of any hotly contested FC battles.
I hope everyone has a fast, fun and reliable weekend (especially me :).
