1985 RF Van Dieman Formula Ford. This is a great starter Formula Ford racer for someone looking to enter Formula racing. I bought the car in 2003 and took a 2nd Place in the Rocky Mountain Division SCCA in 2003. You may access the Colorado SCCA website and review all race data that the car was entered in, and review all Championship points totals. The 85 RF Formula Ford has a new rebuilt engine with less than 30 minutes on the engine. The engine was rebuilt by Bradford Precision Engines in Littleton, Colorado. Bill Bradford has a long history of specializing in the rebuilding of 1600 and 2000 engines. The engine has been dynoed and I have the dyno sheet available. The engine rebuild was completed in November of 2004. The engine was just tested 1-30-2005 at ArroyoSecoRaceway in New Mexico, an SCCA accredited racetrack with less than 30 minutes on the engine. The car runs great. The car has been maintained by JCR Ltd. in Boulder Colorado over the last year. JCR Ltd has over 30 years of racing experience. I have three sets of wheels for the car, which includes two sets of Van Dieman Turbo wheels and one set of Madin wheels. The RF 85 has all NEW aeroquipe oil lines installed by JCR Ltd. I have extra gears for the Hewland Mark 9 gearbox, some extra rod ends. The body work is in good condition, does show some stress cracks as to be expected. Custom beaded seat. Has Crow Enterprises harness good till Oct 2005. 85 RF Van Dieman has NEW Weber carburator and NEW oil pump. I bought the car at age 50 and started racing exclusively under SCCA sanctioning. I am selling the RF 85 FF as I have stepped up to the F2000 class. I would be willing to meet the new buyer within a 300 mile trip to deliver the car. Car is red with yellow side pods and yellow rear panels, and carrys New Mexico styled graphics. The graphics can be removed with a hair blow dryer to remove them.

I have over $5000 into the engine alone, which makes this Formula Ford a great car for the asking price. The car has been owned and raced by Rocky Mountain Division SCCA racers. It has a long history in the RMD Division. Runs and starts pefectly. Could use some new paint on some body panels due to rocks and stones hitting the panels on the track. Never any SCCA - DNF (Did Not Finish) All races started-always finished.
Present log book goes back to May 1998 with original photos back then. Car has been repainted several times to the owners liking, and curently painted with strong New Mexico graphics. Car in 1998 was "blue" .
In addition to the three sets of wheels, have one set of used Goodyear Eagle Tires.
All tires go with the car upon sale.

I am considering buying a first race car and your Van Diemen caught my eye. Can you please e-mail additional pics and any other info you may have. I am a big guy...6'1" and 220lbs. so am interested in suitability of fit. I recently completed the Russell Racing School class at Infineon here in Sonoma, CA and had no trouble fitting into the formula Mitsubishi's they run. Please advise. Like you I'm getting into racing on the later side (coming up on 46) so am interested in the aspects of the car that make it a good first car. Thanks!
