Reynards are very easy cars to drive fast. Quite under rated these days. Good luck with the sale.

Great Bang for the Buck...had lots fun with my 87...easy to drive, fast in the wet, held its setup well. Look it over for the typical Reynard weld spots, tough to repair/straighten the case and the bulkhead if dinged/repaired. Good hunting...

    This car is super fast.

Ran with Tom Gaffney, who is crazy fast, at MO last weekend.

The rear casting/transaxle is in pristine shape. No repairs and no cracks or damage. Front casting/bulkhead was repaired at the attachment for the front shear plate because the bolt holes cracked. Averill repaired and reinforced the mounting locations and it has been trouble free ever since.

Agree with Keith. Not a concern. He was able to repair both the front bulkhead and the mag case on my old Renard without any problems and did an excellent job.

Beautiful car ! Brings back memories, and I agree with the easy to drive comment. Even I was fast in one of these years ago.

    Default To the TOP!

Just wrapped up racing the GLC with this car this past weekend. Raced once in the dry and once in the wet. Swept both races and clinched the CFC championship. Car ran terrifically and was fast all weekend. Qualified Saturday at a 1:05.972 (well under the 1:06.5 lap record) and then officially lowered the CFC lap record to a 1:06.011.

Going to start cleaning up the car tonight. It will be fresh and clean for the next owner. Send your emails my way if you're interested in a strong, quick Reynard.

For what it's worth, I am 5'7 and 220 and sat in the car without a seat insert. Shoulders were tight, but I did fit.

In case you need another opinion of this particular car - let me just say I have been racing at Waterford Hills for a long time. There is a very short list of cars that have reached the 1.05s. I believe it is only the third FC or CFC to ever do it. Forget about the driver - for the car itself, the track is demanding and tough. The fact that it is the record holder should be enough to prove this car is fast.

    Thanks for the endorsement Rob.

Car is still around...somehow. I've had lots of interest but no one serious yet. I spent some time cleaning it up and am beginning to prep it to sit for the winter months. Someone buy it before I get bored and start tearing it apart to inspect everything.

Not sure that I mentioned it before all the setup info and data comes with the car, so getting up to speed around the Great Lakes region won't be a problem. If you race elsewhere, there are setup notes going back all the way to the purchase of this car back in 1990! I actually have a copy of the original bill of sale too!

    Default Bump....with new video

    https://vimeo.com/71709622

Fun video concept from the GLC race at Grattan. Started from the back because I'm an idiot (didn't bring rain tires and sat out the WET qualifying) but had a lot of fun working back thru the field. Reminded me a lot like playing a video game, which is where the concept for this video came from.

Car is still available. Watch the video and you can see how strong a car it is!

I'm 6"1. 185 # . Average build. I've added padding at the shoulders for a snug fit. I Wear tight shoes so my size 11 feet can find one pedal at a time. My guess is you'll fit, just a bit snug

    Default Two Reasons to Buy

I would like to throw our two quick reasons to buy this car. One, the lap times he has run in this car speak for themselves. He has been quicker than cars much newer than this one. Two, it has to be developed well. In order to run the times he has with this car simple states he has put the time into the car. Great car for the money. And, three ( I know I said two) he is a heck of a driver! These are great cars, and I am surprized it hasn't sold.

Having run an 89 and 90 Reynard for 3 years, this car just should NOT still be on the market. It's well prepared and cared for and should be a little better then mid pack competitive in a good FC field.

We put a 'never been in a race car' driver into the 89 and 90 and he never finished a race lower then 2nd against newer VD's and outran FM's every weekend. He also ran with and 'argued' with Stohr D/SR's. The 87 to 91 Reynards are easy to drive an very 'logical' to set up. If you get in trouble just call Keith Averill and your problems will be over.

I'm glad someone bumped this thread or I would have missed that video! That was great. Both the video game "concept" and the driving. I loved how you set up your passes, great stuff!

Good luck with the sale, this looks like a deal. I'd grab it if I could.

LOLOL! Wow, looks really good in that new white paint and dash in there. I still say it should be sold by now.

Wish we still had it. The FC fields are up to 20 PLUS per weekend out here.

Lots of recent views so I'll add in my own little bump. I've still got the car and still looking to sell. For anyone in the Great Lakes Division the 2014 GLC schedule has been listed.

This car won the CFC championship last year and could definitely do it again. And while you're at it you can beat up on some newer machinery.
