Default need some assistance identifying wheels - old Campagnolo

Hi all,

I bought this old set of magnesium center lock Campis. Some guy was helping a friend clear out an old race shop. I picked them up without a whole lot of thought hoping I might be able to use them for my dedicated autocrosser because the size and weight are great. Upon some reflection, realistically it's probably not worth the effort and hassle because of center lock fitment issues.

Anyway, I have no idea what they would have originally been on, so I registered for this forum to see if the collective wisdom here might help. The wheels are 15 inches in diameter and I think they are 11 inches wide although I've not yet removed the tires to take a measurement. Casting says "Campagnolo" on the rear spokes/webs on the inside.

Thanks,

David

Default Campagnolo

Interesting. As in the famed bicycle component company?

Default No help on your Mag's, but

IIRC (been a while) I had an '80s Fiat X19 with OEM Campagnolos; aluminum, of course

Yes. Same company. I would think these would've been run on a purpose-built race chassis given the center lock configuration. Campagnolo made lots of magnesium street car wheels, too.

15 x 11 I'm guessing indy fronts. Looks like maybe early 80's. maybe McLaren?

hi Rick.........thats what I posted on his "other" post in another section, he confirmed they were actually Campys "molded lettering in the back",
but I think late 80's CART or Lites, possibly Lola .
The pin drive bolt circle and offset will tell the tale.

Thanks guys. If anyone has a suggestion of who might be interested in these wheels, let me know. Perhaps there is a shop somewhere here in the USA that focuses on these sorts of cars? I'm not going to use them.

Anybody have any OLD Goodyear tire catalogs that can reference that tire number "D3710" to a particular year and series (Can-Am, Indy, F5000, etc.)?

Can-am cars would be a logical buyer, as well as someone who could probably identify the application. Also the parts for sale section of race-cars.com
