Default Official: 2011 ApexSpeed Sim Racing League

Ok, so we're going to kick off the first race of the season a week from tomorrow. I've got Heartland Park on the server right now for some hotlaps until I put Mid-Ohio on it tomorrow night after the test. Skins are to be finalized and emailed to me (keith at apexspeed dot com) by Thursday night at 9PM CST. No submissions or alterations will be allowed afterwards. I will post the latest skin pack on the server to be downloaded Friday night. If you're ok with using your skin from the last SRF league, please let me know.

If you're looking for information regarding what you will need to connect to the server, check out this thread:
    http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30518

    • Races will be held every other week starting next week 11/16.
    • Events will start at 8:30PM CST starting with a short qualifying session followed by a short warmup and then the race.
    • Race length will be posted the week before.
    • We will still allow late entries to the league if anyone is interested.
    • The lowest two point scoring races will be dropped from point totals.
    • Race restarts: Races can be restarted if four or more people request it within the first half lap of the race.
    • Unnecessary chat during qualifying or the race is prohibited (chat used to notify drivers of exiting the pits, a race restart request, or to advise a side to pass on are allowed)
    • Track cutting: The two wheels on the pavement at all times rule has worked in the past. Racers can privately protest others in order to have the replay reviewed by sending an email to me. If it has been decided that a driver has repeatedly cut the track intentionally with 3 or more wheels off, the driver will receive at least a 5 position penalty on their finishing position if not more.

Something else to remind everyone of, is that we use our real names on the server, and not SIM league "monikers." It is greatly appreciated that you enter the server under your own name so everyone knows who you are.

See you out there tomorrow (I hope).

Some useful links and information for the new guys in the league this year and the old guys who forgot it all.

    (this is the correct one)

    Infinite experience, infinite money:
Note: Always make a backup copy before edit a game file. Locate the
    "OWChallenge.cch" file in the "\UserData\<your profile>\" folder.
Open it with a text editor and find the following line:
    [CAREER]
Bellow, you will find "Experience=" and "Money=" strings with values.
    Example:
    Experience=0
    Money=500
Change the values as your desire, then save the file and run the game.

Unlock most of cars and extra money:
Choose either of the two race car classes the main menu. Then, choose "Control" and start a test run on any track. At the debriefing menu, type ISI_BABYFACTORY in the dialog box to the bottom left of the menu. Choose "Send" then quit from the race. Note: The code is case-sensitive.

    Default New Track

I noticed there's a new track on the Server-Mid Oho No Chicane. When I join the race the loading screen is for Watkins Glen International. It loads OK, but when I get into the race itself it says cannot find "MidOho_NoChicane.scn." then kicks me out. I checked and I do have the file that it "cannot find."

I'm not too worried about the SCN file, I can probably figure that out, it's just weird that it loads The Glen instead of Mid-O

Anybody want to share any tips on making my turd faster ? I was losing 2-3 seconds on each straight. I maxed out the speed vs. grip to speed. I wasn't even in the same zip code as you other cats last night.

For me, I lose all my speed in the corners. I either over- or under-brake, and end up slow in the next straight. I still don't have the same 'feel' that I do in a real car.

Sorry, I couldn't figure out where you go that version, and you hadn't listed it yet. Everything I have usually is from rFactor Central, so that's where I went... it's been fixed in the original post.

As you're aware, the SRF is a low hp, momentum based car. Get the car turned early and get on the gas in the corners ASAP and accelerate through the corner.

Momentum. Plain and simple. Roll the corners, late apex certain corners to lengthen straightaways. Setup is basic and very close to the same at every track, once you find a comfort zone. And yes, use as little of the brakes as absolutely needed.

OK, I downloaded the correct version of Mid-O, and it's in a .RAR, converted from an .exe, but it will not convert into an actual folder. When I attempt to extract it an error comes up saying I do not have the archive folder....any ideas?

Too bad there's no "upgrade" for extra-thick fiberglass on the noses of these cars. That was one of my favorite items seen in Fastrack COA many years ago.

In the Miata days we'd have four spare fenders and an extra front bumper for our two-car 'McLiata' fleet...and an extra roof, which I had to use after a minor flip at RA.

I will take credit for the 1st block as I was leaning like any SRF'er would do. The second was response of a wheel jerk because that was getting too close, and sorry Keith about that...I was hitting my apex

I got 3 or 4 skins that I haven't had a chance to look at yet. I'll probably pack them all up tonight and post them to be downloaded for tomorrow if I can find some time to week through all of the pit stall and number conflicts if there are any with the existing cars in the field.

I'm having a hard time getting my skin converted to DDS so I can check it for errors, fix it up and that. And probably out of time now so I might just have to run the stock #83 already in the game

Edit: Got it figured out, but now it is too late, got my days mixed up, thought it was only Thursday
    oh well
