Default Pro FE/FC Event at Lime Rock Park w/NASCAR

USERA is hosting a pair of open wheel sprint races at the Mohegan Sun 200 NASCAR Camping World weekend at Lime Rock Park on August 14-15, 2009. As many of you may already know, the Mohegan Sun 200 is an exciting spectator weekend and our races will serve as support races for the NASCAR main event. This is a Friday/Saturday event.

The double sprint races will be 30 minutes in length and are open to both Formula Enterprise and Formula Continental cars.

The cost for the weekend is $550 and this includes entry to both races and USERA memberships for the entrant, driver and four crew members. USERA accepts most competition licenses, including SCCA regional and National licenses.

This is a great opportunity for you to race on a spectator weekend in front of enthusiastic race fans... at Lime Rock Park!

The original post had the wrong entry fee... it's actually $550 for the weekend!

Ken, was this information "public knowledge" to the FE/FC community until today? I am interested in the idea, but have very little likelihood of rearranging my life to get out there in just two weeks. I would think there would be more interest with more time.

Ken stepped in to save the SRF part of the event and was made aware that a second slot was availabe and took that ball and ran with it too. So it is last minute, but of course not by design.

Jim, I’ll be the first to apologize for the last minute nature of the announcement.

Last minute race announcements are not how we like to do things either. But as Erik pointed out, we were only called in to help a few days ago ourselves.

What we’ve been able to do is offer the opportunity for run a PAIR of sprint races at Lime Rock for $550, all on a pro weekend in front of spectators. When was the last time you paid that little for a double race event at Lime Rock… let alone get over 2 hours of track time and get to showcase your talent in front of a crowd?

I hope you can make the event. It will be a good one.

    Default question about track

Do you know which track layout they will run the formula cars on. If we were
running the new layout that would be cool. I am guessing that nascar is running the new layout.

Sorry for any implied "tone" as I re-read that post prior. I just was frustrated that I thought I had missed something like this along the way. I hope you are able to generate some reasonable grids. I can't get that much time off work that quickly!

    Stradel425,

NASCAR will be running the classic configuration. I've been told that we can run any configuration we want. If there are corner station movement or other configuration issues, we will run the classic configurtion.

Otherwise I'm open to running whatever configuration the registered drivers prefer! We could even run the classic in one race, and the alternate in the second... now that would make for some exciting corner station calls...

    Ken,

I only wish there was a little more time/notice for this event. Unfortunately, I'm committed to run run the double national close to home won out. (Though I gotta tell you it was close.)

I was at the event as a spectator about 2 or three years ago when F2000 cars or some permutation of the series was running. There was a large crowd at the event and it was run really well. In the short time between the announcement and the event, everyone has done a great job getting the word out. Kudos to all! (Especially Ken and Erik.)

Best of luck and I hope it is a great success!

    Steve

Steve, when you were at LRP a couple of years ago, you were watching the F2000 Championship Series in action. We'll be at Mid-Ohio in two weeks.

I needed to clarify that the event is open to Formula Enterprises, Formula Continental and Formula Mazda cars.

    Enter soon, and enter often!

Stacey and I will be at Summit this coming weekend. I'll be helping my buddies at King Rat and I believe Stacey is planing on helping at start.

Please stop by if you have any questions about the Lime Rock Pro event or need to talk about signing up for the event.

We are also working on the details for a viable Pro program in 2010 and would love your feedback.

Safe travels and we'll see you at Summit!

We have 9 car preregistered and we are expecting additional cars at the "drive through" registration window at the event!

Again, the double races are open to FE, FC and FM cars... double sprint races with two hours of track time for $550 and NO additional crew/membership costs.

More details will follow shortly. But here is a link to the USERA Formula Car Challenge results from Lime Rock Park this past weekend:

    http://mylaps.com/results/showevent.jsp?id=458756

Matt Schneider set a new USERA track record with a 50.638 in FE.
Doug Rocco set a new USERA track record with a 50.649 in FC.

We understand that Doug's FC record is also a new Lime Rock Park track record for FC!

Winners from race 1 were Schneider (FE), Morrison (FE) and Sammut (FE).

Winners from race 2 were Schneider (FE), Morrison (FE) and McCarthy (FC).

Schneider set the fast lap in both races.

    Very nice work everyone!

Matt Schneider's win in race 1 set a new USERA FE track record while beating the previous FE track record with a 50.638.

Doug Rocco also beat the previous FC track record with a 50.649.

I didn't have but a few podium photos to upload, but I do have a couple of CDs from photographers headed my way. One has over 700 photos alone. We will get them uploaded as soon as they arrive.
