For Sale ANSON SA-4 Formula Ford

Fresh red paint (original color), complete car with spares, includes 12 original Dymags, gears, cyl head, suspension. This package also includes the original factory body molds and bucks, as I purchased Anson 20 years ago.
As far as I know, this is the only SA-7 FF in the country, though there is one running as a F2000 on the east coast. Designed by Gary Anderson, who is famed for his innovative and competitive designs in F1 (Jordan, Jaguar< and Stewart), Indy cars, and Super Vee. This is a very strong chassis, and was competitive with the Swifts. Great condition.
    $15,000.

For those interested. A little bit of history on the designer of the Anson:

    http://www.grandprix.com/gpe/cref-andgar.html

Sounds like a great car. An FSV version will be on the track up here in the Northwest this year running out of Portland, OR. Looking forward to seeing it.

I bought an Anson SA4 from Mike last year and looked at the SA7. Mike is being a bit modest when he says the car is in great condition. The car is in excellent condition. Mike is a great guy to deal.

    Default Anson SA-7

    Mike,

Yes, you are correct, I still have my FF2000 SA-7 and just completed a (rather slow) ground-up rebuild. However, I also have both FF1600 SA-7's that are pictured in Nickless' "Anatomy & Development of a Formula Ford". The original prototype in parts and the complete red/white one that Alan Yankelin (spelling?) drove in 1985....that one I restored and raced in 2003 and 2004 locally, but packed it up to bring the FF2000 back to life. Lately, various things have kept me "on the paddock side of the wall", but maybe this year....we'll see. I don't think I could make it to the 40th event where my 1600 is now without a motor and in storage....maybe the 50th if I'm still kicking!!! I might be interested in some of the body moulds and a few parts you have at the right price!

    Hi David,
Nice to hear from you. I have the pic of your F2000 on my wall (you sent many years ago).
I'd like to sell my SA-7 as a package deal, but if someone wants it w/o the moulds, I'll let you know. It might be a problem shipping them to the east.
    Regards,
    Mike McHugh

    Default SA-7 for tall driver

    Dave,
I'm 6'0" and fit height, but am too wide to be comfortable. A 6'4" skinny friend tried it, and was too tall, but comfortable. We did a straight edge from front roll bar to rear over his helmet, and he could clear only by scrunching down. If I can find a 6'2" friend to try, I will.
If you want to fly to SFO, I could pick you up to try it on. I'm about halfway between San Francisco and San Jose.

    Dave,

Mike doesn't look at the forum very often because of his business. Give him a call via the contact info in the first post. He is great to work with.

    Thanks, Dan !
If I don't sell this soon, my wife is going to put me on a diet, so I can fit. There's about 40 lbs. keeping me from driving it.

    Hey Mike,

Colleena is looking after you and your best interests! I would interpret that to mean she wants you to go racing with SFR Group 4 and have some more fun! You are a truly lucky man to have such a supportive woman.

I just had Barry Callouette work his chassis stretching magic on my old Zink so that I would fit properly. Removing weight from the driver (me) is happening, but its not happening as fast as I would like.

For Sale Anson SA-7 Still Available

I haven't been trying to sell this car for quite awhile....perhaps I just like looking at it in my garage.......running the engine....
But I have added a car (a 1960 Lotus 7a) to the garage, and need room to restore it.
So for the FF guy who wants something that you don't see up and down the grid, here's a bump.

I looked at Mike's car. It is very nice. Anson was ahead of his time in chassis and suspension design. Mike is meticulous in his care and restoration.

Anson has been added to the list of approved manufacturers in the C-Modified class for Solo. It is in the July, 2011 Fastrack News, page 20.

    Default SA-7 update

There are pics in autoCross listings in this forum, or in the Bay Area Autocross Forum classifieds.
Price is negotiable without spares, too.

    Default What an interesting car!

I certainly know who Gary Anderson is, but know little of the Anson FF. What a creative approach to the design of an FF!

In what year was the 7 built; and how did it generally do against its better-known competition?

Does anyone know the F/R weight bias of this chassis? Did the really shallow-to-the-wind radiators cool the thing without problem?

Truly an interesting machine. If anyone knows of any good literature on this chassis (aside from the FF book), please let me know. Love to see photos of the chassis without the bodywork...

    Thanks,

    Chris
