Yes, I still am stuck in the previous century and use torches to do much of my fab work. I moved and cannot access the one place that I knew had several pounds of fluxless 3/32 nickel silver brazing rod sitting on a shelf. I cannot even get them to answer a phone.
I am looking for a source .... even someone with a double-life-time supply who would sell me several lbs worth. All I have found online so far is 2-rod packages of flux-coated BernZomatic NS3 or Allstate #11 ..... neither of which do I even know is the right stuff.
Can anybody help me? I expect 2 lbs would be my life-time supply!
Thanks!
I bought a lifetime supply a few years ago. If you're interested, I'll be happy to sell you half of what I have. I'll check the supply tonight and get back to you with quantity and price.
If SteveG can't help you out, I have a couple of Kg of Sifbronze #2 (mild steel), in 2.4mm diameter, arriving from the UK soon.

Kieth, I'd like 2 pounds of SIF#2 if you can spare it. I'm away for while (going to have dinner in New Orleans, which it you live in Ontario is a bit of a production).
I use Allstate 11 coated for most of my routine work. It is silver-bronze, as strong as nickle-bronze, very similar characteristics, but very eutectic. It is designed more for flowing into bicycle frame lugged joints than building up a fillet on a butt joint. I can make it build fillets, but I want to try the SIFbronze on a VD frame I need to change the roll hoop on.
I bought a box of Allstate 11 Coated from my local welding supplier, he had to special order it. It was expensive, but about half as expensive as I suspect the SIF#2 will be.

Thanks guys!
I was going to be in Toronto tomorrow and considering making a 2 hr detour to see if the old place still was there and had it. I won't make that trip knowing somebody has what I need.
I have always used #170 rod similar in composition, approx 10% nickle 48% copper 85,000-95,000 tensile and available at all welding supply stores. Available bare or fluxed. Build up is nice.

I deal with two major welding supply companies in Phoenix,AZ. Neither could come up with any. Our welders looked at me real strange when I told them what I was looking for (one thing they weld is the lacing on a crane), but once I told them what I was working with (mild steel) and the properties of the joints they understood. But had never used it...
John, it is a Harris welding rod it should be readily available. Most all welding shops sell Harris rod. #17 has similar properties and strength I think it has slightly less silicone.
