What level of oil pressures are people seeing? At Watkin's Glen this past weekend, I was only running maybe 35-40 psi down the straight at about 5500-6000 rpm, with water temp of 165 degrees. Seemed a little low to me. I am running Redline 30wt racing oil.
I have found that the oil pressure sensors that Enterprises provides are crap. I am on my fourth. Some fail outrigtht, one showed no pressure until it got over 60 PSI and the one I am currently using reads about 50 pounds high-- but at least it works!

ditto here, on the back straight my oil psi hot goes even lower in 5 year old engine. Hell I have warning lights going off all over. I have lowered the warning range as well. It just keeps running.
Nice meeting you nice drive, cold better ?

oh yeah one other thing, you know in a street car they call them idiot lights right. So in my case the light comes on and I keep driving, now you all know why they are called idiot lights. On my car the oil temp warning comes on as well no matter how many times I reprogram the old C dash as they have no oil temp sensor/warning light.
I am going to CDS system over winter with real sensors and a dash that actually functions

FYI, I've had it with my Commander II CDS system and will be switching to an AIM this winter. Be careful what you wish for.

What do you not like about the CDS? I've used the AIM pretty extensively in three different vehicles, with good results. I've only had one weekend with the CDS, but it seemed to work well, and have solid software. Now I am getting ready to start using the CDS full-time in FE, so I'd be interested to know why you say this.....?
First of all, Marshall he was using the old Commander II system. Yours is the SSI box with Co-Pilot 2 and GPS. While the data is the same, its almost space shuttle to skate board stuff. I'm sure you have people that think their AIM system was garbage and went to CDS.

I had a feeling that was the case - that's why I asked. My impression has been that the CDS is slightly more advanced than the AIM systems I've been working with (EVO3), so his post seemed counter-intuitive. The AIM works fine in the car - I really like the display unit - but it has some limitations in the way it displays data in the software, and I've had some quirky behavior with the USB drivers.
Of course, the biggest issue I've run into with the AIM is that the timing beacons have a very nasty habit of not returning themselves to my trailer after the race.....

Ed -
Good meeting you too. Watkins was a lot of fun - great track. Turns 2, 3 and 4 are a blast. I hope to see you up there again.
Your car looks great; I'm amazed it is chassis #11.
FWIW, these sensors (in several minor variations) are used all over motorsports with reasonably good sucess. The one in my 1989 911 is now 20 years old and working fine thanks.
Having said that, we do recommend that they be mounted on a hose to isolate them from engine vibration rather than hard piping them into the motor. Not sure how they are installed on the FE but if they are hard mounted, put a short hose between the sensor and the engine AND soft mount the body of the sensor.
One other point, we have seen 2 failures "out of the box" recently, one at the runoffs in Chris Farrell's DSR. Perhaps thay have shifted production toward the far east? who knows. I could rant about the continuing decline of quality of almost everything due to consumer's demand for the lowest possible price, but I won't.
Thanks for the space shuttle/skateboard comment Steve. Another comparision would be a CPM or TRS80 computer vs a Mac or XP machine. To put things in perspective, the Commander 2 was designed in 1992-93 and ceased production in 2005.

Even though many Commander 2 systems are 10+ years old (and are on their 2nd or 3rd owner), we still support them and if you give us the oppotunity we will help in any way we can. Best bet is to call us at 716-631-2880 to discuss your issues.
