I need direction to which manufacturer makes competition snow tires for a formula ford.
I'm sure others are in the same boat.
Sigh.

I'd just use old slicks and put chains on, but it's a chore finding the Z-rated ones. Balance is critical. JC Whitney has a little known Racing catalog that has these and other hard-to-find essentials like lightweight billet cigarette lighters and ash trays (purple or blue anodized), open faced sparkly helmets with bubble shields, and of course "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow" patches. Let us know how it goes!

Personally, I'd go the stud route. Only drawback is you gotta be a little careful rolling the car around; if it goes over your foot it really hurts. On a related subject, anybody got any recommendations for hail tires?

You could just move to California, where we are blessed with balmy days and nights, a 9 month racing season and seldom a need for nobbies.
Alternative to that is to use short hex head sheet metal screws driven into the tread blocks for studs. Whee, ice racing!!!!!!!!

No don't move to California. It's awful here you'd hate it. Stay where you are, the weather here is not that great. I recommend Texas go there.

He-he!
I figure, if worse comes to worse, I'll get some ATV tires.
I'm trying to find every reason to move to CA, TX, or FL. I hear the racing is above par!
Actually, I think that the snow will be off Blackhawk by the first events. It'll be close, though. Road America is still white.
Did anyone happen to see the photo's of when Mika Hakinen took an F1 car on the snowmobile tracks in the forests in Finland? Not a bad idea.
