    Default Ralt RT4, RT5

The front wings on these cars are supported by a 1" diam steel tube anchored to the front of the tub and sticking out both sides.

Can someone please tell me what the wall thickness is? Is the material mild steel or 4130?

    Thanks - Derek

Mine measures .050" & I'm guessing 4130 considering how thin it is.

Might be good if it wasn't too strong and easily bent. The bar is easier to replace than an aluminum nose box.

    Derek,

I've seen everything from .875" to 1.250", depending on who made the blocks/wings and what the application was (road course versus oval). All have been mild IIRC.

Art, that piece is not a casting. Just flat alloy plate. I have one for the FT application you are welcome to copy and transfer your own mounting holes if it comes to that. I would think someone has a spare laying around.

And a lot easier to fabricate. (they don't sell this stuff anymore).

That's good to know. Also not really that difficult to fabricate one but a little bit more so than the straight wing tube. I've got a jig for that also.
