I spoke to Nick about a year ago about his two cars, he said the cars were located in Brazil. Not sure if they are still available.

I can confirm, these are really great modern and easy to run formula cars. Very popular cars in Europe, Asia and South America.

The only problem, there are no series in north america for them. I race mine with SVRA & VARA against F3, F2, F2000 and Atlantic's. The F3, older F2 and older Atlantic's run about the same lap times. The later F Atlantic's are faster, but can be beat on a twisty technical track.

I also hear the FR 2.0 could run in SCCA FS class, but would require some minor safety changes because these car are FIA F3 rules compliant and SCCA has some different weird rules.

Those cars with 2 liter VW engines run in the LATAM series. They do 2 races in the US a season in TX at MSR Houston and MSR Cresson.

F3 cars can now run in FA. If these cars are built to F3 spec, then there should be no major issues.

Correct. See page 275 of the October 2014 GCR.

This is not to say that it is capable of beating the new Atlantics.

You can get a new Formula Renault motor from Renault Sport for roughly $10k I think; but any good engine builder can source all of the consumables for the motor with relative ease.

The new Atlantics are 1300 lbs and 240hp if I did my research correctly. My FR2.0 with a motor I put together put out almost the same power and the car is 200lbs lighter. I have a strong feeling it would be a close race.

New to these cars, but want one as I used to race WERA bikes, but want to get into open wheel cars. Where/who do you have work on the engines when refresh is needed and how do you get parts in the US?

    Thank you for any input/

    Guys,

    Sorry for the late response!
Only one of the original cars available and another one of same spec car also available.
As mentioned by someone before, the cars are located in Brazil so they will need to be imported.

Here is some pics of the new car:
