We're still getting cars and drivers expressing an interest in a Kent only ARRC race, so anyone dissatisfied with Formula F should unite!

We'd like to have a pre-72 , Pre-81 and Pre-90 trophies as well as modern chassis all in one race. A mini Formula Ford Festival

Olds, if I were you I'd bring the RF92.

#1, you can compare notes with Reid,
#2, It hoists you firmly out of the Pre-90 category!

The 92. We can have a "long lost brothers" reunion, separated at birth over 22 years ago.

PS. My notes are always open.

    Default Great idea!

This is starting to sound like a fun event! We run vintage treads all the time, and it is a BLAST!

According to google maps, it is possible to get there... But under commute time, it read: Are you nuts? I couldn't see where to click 'yes.'

Good luck with this worthwhile endeavor. Long live the KENT.

    Default Bowman

Maybe I will drag the Bowman down there for the event if I can get all the other Kent powered Bowmans in North American to join me. Make it a small Bowman reunion.

We run treaded tires out here in Arizona. Our fields have grown to be 15 to 22 cars consistently every race.

I hope that you have the same success in your efforts.

The Chief Steward can grant you a provisional license (not sure of the proper term, but I recall reading it in the GCR) if you don't have an SCCA license, but you do have a license from a similar sanctioning body and you are in good health. Contact the region in advance and they can assist you.

Fair enough but what is the point of saying I won the November edition of the Black Miss America 5'10" to 6'2" category when instead you could be inclusive instead of exclusive?

By the way, my dad's car has a Honda and outboard suspension. My car has a kent with pushrods (and at the moment Toyo's)

The aim of this event was initially to motivate Lee and I to get of our backsides and get racing again! If it ends up just being the two of us tooling around on Toyo's then so be it, but if anyone else thinks this would be fun then the more the merrier! We're both ex UK Formula Fordsters hence the the Ford only requirement.

Who cares who wins? Ron Dennis isn't scouting. Besides, I hear the winner has to eat some British food. This is two guys wanting to have some fun, inviting some other older cars to come on out and join them. A throwback event to the old days of FF in England. Older chassis, Fords, treaded tires.

I am not going to with the mindset that I have to win. I am going with the mindset to have a stupid good time with some racing buddies.

Let's not allow the Honda/Ford stuff to suck this fun out of this too. There is plenty of places for the Honda to race, I think you even have a series solely because of it. If you have a Honda, and want to come and have a really good time, come to the ARRC and pull the restrictor out and run FFX or whatever they did a few years ago.

I had a similar response typed out, even the bit about it just being Ben and I!!

Formula Fords and treaded tires continue to be an extremely successful formula worldwide, we just want to relive our youth a little, that's all, we both just want to do this again.......

Reid you miss the point completely. Using the word 'win' came from JRII talking about winning the beauty pageant. It doesn't have to do with winning. It has to do with racing. We always BITCH about low car counts so why would anyone want to do anything to hinder car counts? I am all for running on Toyo's...no problem at all....easy to buy a set of tires (relatively)....not easy for those that have Honda's to put a Ford in. That's all. And really, this is being blown out of proportion. If folks want to run Fords on street tires then fine but to make them a different class for an event? Really? How about a class for Honda's with skinny rears....a class for Fords with skinny rears.....a class for unrestricted Honda's with rears all the way around...hey prototypes more or less did it why not us? Get it?

Please please please can those that are not interested in a little Formula Ford fun not weigh in on this? This is purely two guys who want to race each other next year in Formula Fords on threaded tires. If anyone else wants to join us that's great. Lee and I already have 17 Ford powered cars seriously interested. What's wrong with that? Again, please let's have one Formula Ford thread without any bickering. This is supposed to be a bit of fun.
    Thanks!

That's the plan, just 'our group' will be Fords on treaded tires. This isn't about diluting the class, making a new class or being anti Honda. Some people are over complicating this. As we've said before, Lee and I and hopefully Reid will be racing on Toyos and any FFord is welcome to join us. If no one wants too (which doesn't seem to be the case) then ya'll can point and laugh at us sliding around having fun!

I'll settle this right now. Anybody with a SCCA/Pro legal Formula F that's going, will run in the same "class". I'll donate a trophy and $200 in Cryo and or REM services to the FORD powered car on Toyo tires that finishes the highest on the official race results sheet. If that's not enough incentive to pull your Honda out and refit a Ford engine while throwing your chassis set up book in the trash, then God help you!

Andy, here in lies the problem, I never mentioned winning anything.
And from personal experience, even winning that big prolonged money pit of a race we call runoffs does not really mean anything outside of our circle. but it is the memories and friendships that keeps us doing it again and again.

OK OK OK........so that it will be about winning.....for those who must win something.....Eye've sponsored events before.....so I'll post to the second place finisher in the treaded class as prize: the half a pack of gum left over from the most recent UCF football game, a bottle of relatively new Water Wetter and some marbles off the track from the next Daytona event I flag.

I promise to watch for results and forward accordingly.

We're all about creating a space where people can connect, share knowledge, and exchange parts and vehicles, with a focus on specific race cars, classes, series, and events. Our community includes all major purpose-built road racing classes, like the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and various pro series across North America and beyond. At ApexSpeed, we're passionate about amateur motorsports and are dedicated to helping our community have fun and grow while creating lasting memories on and off the track.
