Default FF - SCCA Runoffs 2013

    And we're off....http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...20practice.pdf

Sunny skies and cool temps for the FF practice session. Hope to post some pics on Tuesday.

Anyone know when Lewis Cooper is arriving?

Did Scott Rubenzer sell his Citation? I noticed he was in a Spectrum this year.

Scott has both cars. He has been running the Spectrum in the Pro Series.

    Default Bam Bam...

Why not participate in the Runoffs? Pro Series too much fun for one year?

    Cheers,

Ross here is what I wrote in another thread on it & I am trying not to take away from everyone else there enjoying the event. We are still racing, just opting out of this event for reasons below.

Work gets in the way of my chance to go but I also did not like qualifying scheduling. I competed all season running FC & FF in SCCA weekends as they were in different run groups. Qualifying for FC & FF are together at the Runoff's???????

Sebring, West Palm, COTA, Road Atlanta, Road America June Sprints all had different run groups where I raced. All Majors except West Palm was a National...now I would have to qualify for different races in the same sessions?

Sorry, don't mean to complain but this is a big part of my decision not to take a week off work & qualify haphazardly.

    Bam Bam,

FF & FC together certainly seems unwise on many fronts... I was looking forward to seeing Pebble's boyfriend give it a run...

Looks like some decent times set yesterday, I believe Tim only turned 4-5 flying laps according to what I saw on race monitor. Reid is doing well & nice to see LC3 up there too as anticipated.

Only 3 cars turning laps so far according to Race Monitor. I guess Tuesday's session will set the starting grid.

Alright you F'en racers (get it?), place your bets. The dust and mud have settled, and the final grid is set. http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...nal%20grid.pdf

Will Kautz give the competition fits (Fits)?
Can Reid and his mono-nuclear steed "shock" the rest of the field?
Which exotic marque will prevail: Vestal or Stohr?
And what's the deal with all the racers from Colorado?

Saturday afternoon weather looks to be picture perfect. Can't wait!

The good: I just last month purchased an RF 92 and it's undergoing a frame up right now. Reid has proven that the RF92 MONOSHOCK is still capable of running upfront in the premier FF race in North America.

The bad: I now have no excuses to run mid or back pack because of the monoshock and my car being older .

GO REID ! Bring home the gold !

Particularly in the rain, when Reid would be twitching giddily this way and that through the corners, I always had the excuse that the confetti he tossed as he slid the car would clump on my visor and prevent me from seeing properly. After dialing through every excuse in the old excusotron, I had to admit that Reid just kicks ass. In that antique monoshock no less. Go Reid!

Very cool for first and second- doesn't get any better than that!

Dorcey Schreider was mentioning that only small people can fit in FF's nowadays. Apparently he doesn't know Jim Morgan. I find that an insult to senior citizens that are still truly competitive and fast.

I know I spelled Dorcey's name wrong because the spell check is giving me a red line. Sorry....

Excellent call, Andrew. Congratulations to Jeff.

I am still in a bit of shock, what a show Tim & Reid put on. In a moment of utter weirdness, I lost my connection to speedcasttv.com just as the Piper and VD92 streaked by start-finish, so I saw the result but not the interviews.

Awesome racing guys! Tight, close, clean, at the limit. I can't believe Reid can make that old mono-shock go so fast. I'm with Tim: I'd love to see Reid in a modern chassis. Pretty classy that Tim's first words on winning were a tribute to Reid's skills. Congratulations on another championship, Tim. I enjoyed the show!
PS: Thanks, John, for upholding the honor of the venerable DB-1. Up to 4th at one point, if I remember correctly. My car value appreciates it. [Kills my excuses, though.] I hope you guys and the cars are okay.

What an amazing race by everyone ! Truly epic !

Reid . Just spectacular . And thank you .
I just went out to the barn and gave my old RF93 monoshock car a hug . A really big hug . I apologized to her for ever considering replacing her with something newer .

I hope she will forgive me .

Your example to us who own geriatric cars some say can't win is inspirational .

Thanks again. You just saved me 70K .

Just got home after stopping for pizza in Plymouth. Every joint in my body is sore! Even from the pit wall, it looked to be an exciting race. Can't wait to see the video.

Thanks everyone. Cool to see so many enjoyed me and Tim fighting it out. It was a really great race, and if I have to come in second I would rather it be like that than by a mile. Really good race with Tim, super aggressive but clean. For touching so much through the race I am not sure if we should exchange insurance information or not. Both cars need some rhinoplasty. I joked with Tim after the race that he really should learn to share. I mean, the guy is a total trophy hog...3 times now? Dude, share the wealth.

I'll post some more when I find some words. Tough to take right now. I will post the in-car (It actually worked!) when I get some time early in the week. It was a good, hard race.

Thanks again - much appreciated and I hope all enjoyed the show!
