Default Help finding reliable transport company for an FE.

Hello all. I'm needing to transport an FE from the north east to just outside of Indianapolis. I've been working with a transport company for the last couple weeks but have yet to get a solid date on when they can pick it up. The car is ready to be picked up but I'm starting to get frustrated with the lack of commitment from the current transport company I've been dealing with. They will transport it for $1000 in a very nice enclosed trailer. Anybody know of another company with similar prices? Thanks for any and all assistance!

    Dan

Dan, do a keyword search on words like "transport" or "shipping," and you'll find many threads on this topic.

    Try Thomas C. Sunday, Inc 1-800-541-6601 http://www.sundayautotransport.com/

    Multiple trucks, really nice people.

I just unloaded a car last week for a friend that was brought in by them - great service.

+1 call them and ask for Karen. They handled my car + spares in an excellent manner, I would highly recommend them.

I've not had any luck with uship after attempting to ship and engine and now the FE. The bids were $100 high on the engine and $600 higher than Intercity can do it for. Looks like I may try Intercity unless bats can do it for significantly cheaper. Thanks all.

Did you get it shipped? How much did it end up costing?

    Were there spares too?

Intercity will be picking it up early next week and should have it here by the end of the week. The car plus 2 extra sets of wheels cost me about $1150. I think it is a very fair price considering they look like a top quality outfit with attention to detail and very nice hauling equipment. I will let you guys know how it goes but I don't have many doubts it will be a smooth operation. Thanks for the help everybody and I hope this thread might help out somebody else with the same question.

Their trailers are two level enclosed trailers that look top notch. Jay Leno appears to be a customer if that says anything.

No matter who you use, make sure you get photos of all corners of the car, in the transport, after loading. Hopefully you won't need them, but if there is damage they will undoubtedly deny they did it. Don't ask me how I know. Photos can save you in that situation. All the carriers transfer cars between trucks along the way which sucks.

I think Intercity is one of the few door-to-door. It doesn't appear that they switch trucks mid route and they do a pretty comprehensive checklist prior to leaving pickup area. Hopefully it works out as good as it appears. Thanks for the tip though, I've definitely dealt with unscrupulous transport companies before...

I work for a collector car company in California (Fantasy Junction) , We deal with a lot of shippers and I can tell you from first hand experience that Intercity is one of the best shippers out there. We ship and receive very valuable cars with them 10-15 times a month. I think that you chose well.

I don't doubt that some carriers transfer cars between trucks along the way, but not all of them do. I helped Horseless Carriage Carriers load mine at Miller Motorsports Park on a Monday and helped the same guy unload it from the same spot in the same trailer in Lafayette, Indiana, three days later. It depends on the company you choose.

I have had really good service from Halo Transportation. They use an enclosed single car trailer and you get door-to-door service in most cases. A lot of people don't have room for a semi to get to their house. That was my problem with the Cadillac, no room in the driveway or small country road for the semi but no problem for a 28 foot single car trailer. . They moved a 58 Cadillac from Tennessee to Florida last month and are moving a bunch of parts from Pennsylvania for me this week, Great people too. Call Pauline or Steve on 423-464-2437 or send them an email at halotransportation58@gmail.com

Tell them Roger in Orlando sent you.

I got the car Thursday morning from intercity. Driver was nice and helpful and car was great. Small nick on fiberglass body so trying to figure out if it was three before being picked up. Overall great experience and highly recommend intercity.

The car looks fantastic and very clean. Came with a nib bald sports medium seat kit that I wasn't aware! Looking forward to going over the car when I get back in town.
