    Default Runoffs 2014

I guess I'll start the thread since no one else has yet. Any information about this years runoffs?

A new 2015 version of the RFR driven by JRO. Any sightings of this yet?

I know Runoffs testing will start soon. Any photos, news, would be great for those of us not in attendance.

    Default RFR F1000 Materializes!

I've seen it with my own eyes at Laguna today. All black, running fast with a dry sumped Kawasaki and Geartronics installed. Sounded good and quiet with a big muffler.
I'll let those in the know tell any details but there was a lot of wing on it.

Bodywork looks slightly changed, side pods clearly changed. Diffuser looks changed.

My guess is they put it on a diet.

There's some pictures of it on the Firman Aussie site

    Under the track record.

Glad to see Ralph has finally got the car in track. It was about 2 years ago Nicholas and I had my friend Johan at 3D Capture doing a complete digitizer on the entire car so we could do a full CFD and redesign the aero. Even though I'm no longer selling cars for Ralph it'll be great to see JR win with it on its first outing. Especially since it looks like I might be sponsoring JR a little bit on this one.

The Hoosier Tire US Formula 1000 Championship will crown the national champion at the SCCA National Championship Runoffs in just one week. All points are doubled at the finale so there are five drivers with a mathematical chance of taking the overall championship. Recently-crowned West Champion Larry Vollum has the best chance as he leads the overall standings. He is currently 21 points ahead of East Champ Jeremy Hill. Glenn Cooper is 11 points behind Hill and Alex Mayer is only two points behind Cooper. Randy Cook is much further back but if he has a perfect weekend and the others struggle, he could take the overall championship. Although not in the hunt for the championship, both Lawrence Loshak and J.R. Osborne return to the series and could be spoilers in the final results.

The complete entry list as of 9/14/13:
    Driver, Chassis, Hometown
Jeremy Hill, 2007 Photon, Toronto, ON
Lawrence Loshak, 2013 Astra Summerhawk, Grafton, WI
Jason Bell, 2010 Citation, Tampa, FL
Larry Vollum, 2008 Stohr, Portland, OR
Tyler Thielmann, 2014 JDR, Kiel, WI
Rod Rice, 2007 Stohr, Austin, TX
Randy Cook, 2012 JDR, Palo Alto, CA
Jose Gerardo, 2010 Stohr, El Paso, TX
Ross Wolf, 2012 Stohr, Bellevue, WA
Duane Eitel, 2012 Phoenix, Casa Grande, AZ
John LaBrie, 2013 Phoenix, Draper, UT
Glenn Cooper, 2009 Firman, Roswell, GA
Gary Hickman, 2013 Phoenix, Santee, CA
Alex Mayer, 2014 JDR, Harleysville, PA
Dore Chaponick, 2014 Stohr, Lutz, FL
JR Osborne, 2014 Firman, Greenwood Village, CO

Hmm. From the online timing perspective, today's Q2 didn't appear to be very good for most. Only a few (3-4) laps then a full course caution that seemed to end the session early. Hope no one suffered serious problems. I guess this adds to the drama that is the Runoffs.

Looks like Bell got his shifter fixed last night - fastest so far in this session. Must have been a crash or something - timing is showing only 4 laps completed by most cars.

I heard Ross Wolf's car caught fire yesterday that's why the session was cut short.

On the new Firman they've been whittling away at the side pods to get enough cooling. JR figures he'll be quick today.

The new Firman looks good, especially now it has got some color to it.

This is going to be one heck of a race.

The non local guys have not had many laps to get dialed into the track due to the shortened qualifying sessions. They will get quicker. JR could check out and run away with it but with a new car and the possibility of new car bugs showing up during the race distance...who knows. Alex is consistently fast for full race distance and will not give anybody any slack. Jeremy is one of the few drivers I know that gets faster and faster with every lap. If he is behind you he's coming to get you. Gary Hickman is fast and his track knowledge should keep him at a solid pace. Coop is just a natural born racer. He will find a ***** in any one's armor and knows how to capitalize on any opportunity presented. Then you look at the rest of the field that are all very close to the front runners and anyone of them could jump into the mix if there are race incidents. Who knows, maybe Loshak will decide to start at the back of the pack at the start just to flip his red mist switch.

    Good luck to all.

    Ugh. Just checking in.
Yesterday was THE time to put in a lap.
I had just gone out to check the tweaks we had done and then pitted for fresh skins and would then go out and put 3 laps in and park it.
No such luck - the right front wheel nut galled and would not come off.
    That was that.
With the best conditions and number of laps run in any of the 3 sessions the times fell and my P4 slid to P7.
Just gonna have to give it he'll from mid field.

    Post Loss of Qualifying time for # 5 & # 43 -- ? What happened ?

    # 43 -- Glenn Cooper. # 5 -- Larry Vollum

    What happened ?

    Saw this:

    Car 5 - Loss of qualifying 2 times per Chief Steward - GCR 9.1.1.G table 5 "c"

    Car 43 - Loss of qualifying 2 times per Chief Steward - GCR 9.1.1.G table 5 "C"

    What does that mean ?

Does that mean -- both Starting from the back of the pack ?

    or ?

    Mike
