    Greg, et al,
It really depends on flights and arrival / departure times as Hartford, CT or Boston, MA and Providence, RI are similar drive times away.
Providence maybe a bit closer and Boston of course has significant traffic issues as could Hartford however the route from Bradley, the Hartford airport, avoids Hartford itself completely.
From Logan , Bostons airport, I think Boston traffic is unavoidable and admit ignorance regarding Providence RI as I have never even seen it.

For what it's worth, Google Maps says Providence is closest with the lowest travel time.

    Default Providence

The Providence airport is actually in Warwick. No traffic issues between Warwick and Thompson except during morning/evening rush hour, and even then it's a 15 minute delay at most.

TF Green Airport Warwick/Providence. Easy in, Easy out. Traffic generally not an issue.

I know this question has been asked for previous races, so I apologize, but I am less than 20 minutes away from Thompson and would like to see this in person; will the event be open to spectators? Would it make any difference that I let my SCCA membership lapse a few years ago?

I believe spectators are desired and wanted.

    Default CT tracks

I have only been to Thompson a couple of times but it appears they are like all the road race tracks in CT. Never refuse to let someone in, may ask for money but always can get in the track.

    Watkins Glen are you listening?

    Default Tickets

I am a member of the Turn Twelve Club at Thompson. We are the friendly people who volunteer for various duties throughout the weekend. For example, I will be shuttling people around the track/parking lots/paddock areas in a golf cart Sunday morning.
Spectators are definitely welcome!! Per the Thompson website, tickets are $20.00/day for Saturday & Sunday.
    Hope to see you there!

Thanks for your replies. I'll try to make it to one of the two days then.

And this is a great facility for spectators, you can see lots from various vantage points - and the oval transition is very cool.

Beasley fastest in practice one, into the 1:08 range.

    Monty,
Who was the series photographer @ Thompson? He took a photo of me working on Jonathon Teixeira's car that I want to get a copy of.
