    Default Crossle Left Foot Braking

I'm looking to add the option to left foot brake on my Crossle 30F. As you know the steering shaft runs between Brake and Clutch pedals.

Can anyone share some photos of their Crossle left foot brake setups? I'm assuming I need to get a spare pedal to take the place of the clutch and weld it to the original brake pedal, then move over the clutch pedal/master cylinder to where the dead pedal is now?

Any guidance from people who have done this would be a help.

    Thanks!

    Will,
Jay Ivey has a contact from the west coast who makes a kit which is easy to install and works great. Installed one in my Crossle 31 and I love it.

    Default Left Foot Brake

Here is a setup I have seen before and considered applying to my 35F.

I will see if I can dig up a photo when I get home.

Mine was an "H" shape with both legs of the base pivoting on the same axis, with the steering shaft going through the uprights.

I believe the photo of the one above would not provide enough positive feel when left foot braking due to flex.

    Default Left side

Will - from watching your video from the NARRC off I think you would be better off keeping your left front tire on the pavement rather then worry about left foot braking.

Sorry, I could not resist that.

Haha, thanks Eddie! One or two wheels ok, just not all four.

Thanks for the pictures, several different ways to go about this.

    Post laft foot for braking

There used to be a factory Crossle' left foot brake set up that worked well.

Just remember what Nicki Lauda says about left foot braking.

    Default left foot braking

O.K. for the suspense.... We all give up.

What did Nicki Lauda say about "laft" foot braking?

Knowing Jason Byers and his excellent engineering and fab capabilities and curious brain I bet he made that pedal assembly him self....

With left foot braking moving the pressure point so far off-axis, I'd consider making the pivot 'width' much wider to counteract binding.

    Makes sense.
Looks like Porter can set it up ala the Crossle LFB configuration.
Good to know this craftsmanship still exists.
    Thanks

My Crossle has been gone for many, many years. I loved my dual pedal set up.

I've chicken-scratched over one of the above pics to show how mine was designed. Pivot on common bolt/rod at base. Connected to right side brake pedal arm as high up as you can get it and still ensure that it will not contact steering arm through full sweep even if one master cylinder takes a dump.

My clutch pedal arm was skewed to the left to provide a little more clearance which was fine because I only needed clutch to start and complete stops.

    Daryl,
That looks like what are shooting for in my Crossle.
    Thank you

Jay Ivey put me in contact with the person who made mine about 10 years ago - sorry I don't have the contact info any more.
