Default Links to in-car racing footage

Ok guys, until more is added to the site to host links to in car footage this will have to do. We don't have the resources to host the footage, but feel free to link to videos that you have found that are hosted elsewhere. This thread will be pruned of any "extra" comments. All posts in this thread will list the track and maybe a little summary of the footage if it's yours and the link to the clip. Fire at will!!

Great, great viewing - shows what power can do! As the title says it's the Assen track in Holland. That scream must be axle related since it doesn't change with engine rpm, only with car speed. Must go back and watch it again!

    Default 3 gears?

Clark. Why not gear the car to use all 4 gears? I would guess it's because you don't normaly race there so it's not worth the trouble? Darrell

    Darrell,

The car had the Cooper spec short box, which uses the wider gears, and we only have the allowed gearsets. We could convert to standard gears, but a track like Gingerman would be pretty hard on them. Really not worth the trouble and probably not worth any lap time.

At any rate, this was my first time at Gingerman in a Zetec and we were really just there to capture video... you probably noticed the car was a little tail-happy; too much rear bar and no undertray (took it off to get at the oil return line). I was so busy with video junk that I didn't have time to mess with the car.

The track folks were really nice. They took my camera guy out on the track to get some really good external footage and even agreed to stick him in their Suburban for the last session!

Default incredible link to track maps, track info, and awesome video!

a post by J Mabee to incredible website with track info, track maps, and awesome video. You have got to check this out! This is what we all have been hoping and dreaming for: a video log and map of the world tracks at:

    www.trackpedia.com

Since I live in CT and race at Lime Rock: I checked out two great Lime Rock videos:

A Porsche with in car cam comments on his driving then rolls over on the uphill. His next word is X rated. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...92&q=Lime+Rock

A Skip Barber FF driver takes his car for a spin on the downhill and gets the right front tire removed (ugh) by a passing motorist. http://www.truveo.com/search.php?akw...eo&q=Lime+Rock

For those videophiles like me who want to tour the worlds tracks, this site is where to go!
    Thank JM for the link.........

Default Another in-car video from Tom Duncan

I have posted another in-car video from a 2005 regional race at Laguna Seca. I started at the back of the pack having missed qualifying due to work scheduling, and had a good time coming up through the field until I got a bit greedy...twice. Then I was black flagged for sound and I finished the race at the black flag station. The video is 7 minutes 25 seconds long.

    Default Two new ones

Two new videos I just posted on Google this weekend:

Sears Point Test Day, June 2001, 1994 Van Dieman.

A few laps arouund the old Sears Point track before the guys at Inferior ruined it. With the wide open front straight using part of the dragstrip. This test day was one using the NASCAR "chute". Actually, the second chute configuration they did. The one they have now with the tight right turn at the bottom of the hill. The first chute they built was a beauty. A fast right downhill sweeper that ran right out to the wall. Guess it scared the NASCAR "boys" too much so they had to slow it down.

Anyway, the video starts with sound, but yours truely manage to unplug the mic somehow leaving the pits so it goes silent. I also put the wrong video tape in the camera. This was only a 15 minute one so I didn't catch any of my fastest laps, only the first 3 warm up laps.

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...78139148105705

Laguna Seca Regional Race, June 2004, 2000 Van Dieman

The last 4 laps of the June 13, 2004 regional race. This video begins when I nearly have a big wipeout at the corkscrew. Doesn't look like much more than a jerk on the wheel in the video but I nearly had a big one. The video is silent as once again I manage to unplug the mic but the video shows some good racing. This is my current car before I rebuilt it. It's complete changed since then. The Prodata system is gone and the car is now red in color. The Prodata system was working although it looks like just a bunch of blinking red lights in the video. I manage to win my class (FC) in this race even though the car's engine was totally gone. I raced this same car a month later in the Cooper Series Sears Point pro race (bad engine and all) and got totally buried by the Zetecs. The car now has a fresh engine and new rebuild.

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...66143559108017

EDIT: All this stuff on google is best if run at "original" size or normal size window.

Funny... he turns in early and brakes late, uses the brakes (or throttle) to rotate the car in the middle of the corner. I guess this allows him to be a WOT for a bit longer, which I guess makes a big difference at 1200 hp.

Absolutely. I had my jaw hanging open at times. The first time I watched it, I couldn't believe the way he muscled it through the right/left chicane near the end of the lap (after the Shell bridge). Actually, I couldn't believe it the next time I watched it either.

Senna was also known for using engine braking (using the engine to slow the car down prior to braking).

If you watch that video multiple times you become desenitized to the speed. The video doesn't look so fast as it did the first time.

I've noticed this in other videos of him, he really zings the motor sometimes, well above the upshift RPMS.

More footage of Senna, in a NSX at Suzuka. Lower left shows his feet, lower right shows the tach. His footwork is very interesting. Some on another forum thought this style was from driving turbocharged engines to keep them spooled up.

Default Revised URL's for in-car footage from Tom Duncan

Just found out the URL's I posted on this thread I originally had for my in-car (and other) video at Google Video have changed. Google Video is still in beta form so I suppose that shoudn't be a surprise. In any event I have updated the addresses so the links work again. I have copied them all here as well:

A lap of Sears Point (Infineon) Raceway in a Club Ford:

A lap of Laguna Seca (Mazda Raceway) in a Club Ford:

A lap of Thunderhill in a Club Ford:

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...3&q=tom+duncan

A race win at the Western States Championship at Thunderhill this last October (5 min):

An 8 minute outside-the-car video of track and paddock scenes at an SCCA regional at Laguna Seca:

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...9&q=tom+duncan

A lap of Thunderhill looking backwards:

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...0&q=tom+duncan

An in-car video from a 2005 regional race at Laguna Seca. I started at the back of the pack having missed qualifying due to work scheduling, and had a good time coming up through the field until I got a bit greedy...twice. Then I was black flagged for sound and I finished the race at the black flag station. The video is 7 minutes 25 seconds long.
