    Default Best Truck Tire

    What's the longest lived, decent traction, load range E, 235 - 85 R - 16 Highway - Towing truck tire ?

    Summer - dry & wet ?

    Winter - snow & ICE ?

    Thx for your inputs !

    I'm leaning towards Michelin. ...

Michelin LTX. Wear like iron and are decent in the snow. I've had a set from Costco on my F250 for 8 years, 75,000 miles. Never had a flat and still have about 1/3 tread life.

Ditto, cost more up front but more than make up the difference in wear.

Another Michelin LTX owner here. Another perk of the Michelin's is they're low rolling resistance tires - probably gives you ~1mpg.

I have a 4x4 Tundra we use to tow. The truck is driven a lot without towing as well.
We put a set of Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor Pro Grade tires on it 6 year/60k miles ago. My first impression was - these suckers are going to be gone in a year.

I would estimate 50% tread life remaining today. No road noise. Some off road use too.
We've abused them: over loaded, run over crap

There's Silent Armor and Silent Armor Pro Grade (more$ obviously).

I've never owned Mich LTX, but lots of other Mich tires.
I'd consider both the next time I need to buy....

    Default truck tires

Had the Michelin LTX as an OE tire on one or more of my trucks - it was a very good tire. Can not speak to life as these were company vehicles and were with me for less than one year.

The Hankook DynaPro ATM has a horrible name but it actually quite a good tire and available in load range E for a very appealing price. Had some on an older full sized SUV for about a year and was very pleased with their performance.

In a life long time ago I worked at a company that made wheels for 18 wheelers.

We used to test wheels using a tire test machine with a BIG driven drum and a hydraulic ram to press the wheel tire assembly against the drum.

Ran the assembly about 60 mph at 2 1/2 times the rating of the wheel (or 5 times the rating of the best tires).

Michelins lasted 4 to 5 times longer than any other brand we tried. And we bought the tires 30 at a time so we had plenty of opportunity to try various choices.

Tried some McCrearys once. They lasted about an hour before blowing.

    Default Michelin LTX

Michelin LTX hands down (there are a few different LTX models). It will transform how your truck rides and handles for the better.
