What is a fair price for a rebuilt BDA Cosworth engine?
Rebuilt by whom? How many rebuilds on it? Bore? Crank journals? Has the head been overheated? A true rebuilt, or with "very little time" on it? Dyno sheets?
The best way to buy a BDA (or any racing engine) is to agree with the seller to buy it directly off the dyno from a mutually agreed upon engine builder (Steve Jennings in this case.) The seller pays the rebuild costs and you pay full boat for the engine. That way you know what you are getting and there should be no surprises.
Remember, you get what you pay for. As the Fram commercial used to say "Pay me now, or pay me later."

I've seen motors ranging from $5K to $30K with the average complete used motor at $10K. But if you don't know what you are looking at, you could get sucked in for a lot more after the initial purchase. All these motors have a lot of miles on them and the parts have inherent failures that could be very costly.
