Default Hobby and Kendall take NEC 2005 Crowns

The third season of the New England Challenge (NEC) series for Formula Ford came to a successful close at Watkins Glen in September with Doug Hobby and Rod Kendall claiming the series championships in Formula Ford (FF) and Club Ford (CF) respectively. Both drivers earned the series championship by winning the final race of the eight race series. Hobby, from Sharon, Ct., won two of the eight events in the 2005 series while Kendall, from Ridgefield Ct., won three events and was runner-up in two others. Second place in the Formula Ford went to Davy D’Addario of Wallingford, Ct. with Ray Boyer of Bellingham Ma. taking the final podium position. The 2003 and 2004 NEC Club Ford champion, J. D. King, from Franklinville, NJ finished second in 2005 after being plagued by gremlins in several events. Mike Rand, another Sharon Ct. resident, finished third in Club Ford. The 2003 and 2004 NEC Formula Ford champion, Bob Lutz from Jeannette, Pa. finished fourth in 2005.
