Default Looking for trailer cabinets on the cheap.

I want to put cabinets and a bench in the front of my trailer.

I was going to go with 2 of these up front. http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=00959831000

The problem is the bench is not too wide and there is lot's of space I see as being wasted on the sides and bottom plus kinda heavy. For $220 pick up at sears not bad but still alittle too much for what you get.

I found this place in MA which is nice can pick up but twice as much. http://www.modulinecabinets.com/sport3.html#sa05

    Front Base only
    Part #8898FB
    42 lbs. $449.39

It's nice and light but $450 way too much for me. Plus I still need to build a Alum. counter top. They offer counter tops but I could easly build one for much cheaper.

So any ideas CHEAP ideas on how I can build a cabinet/counter for the front of my trailer?

build them yourself. that way you get exaclty what you want, and keep cost to a minimum.
I did my last trailer, with tons of shelves, tire racks for 3 sets of tires, fuel jugs holders, workbench, and much more for a couple hundred $$.

    have fun, measure everything!!

    cheers

Check a local salvage yard for aluminun sheets. I bought a 4ft by 6ft by 1/8 for $24. It was enough for all the overhead doors and some doors below the bench. Lightly sanded with 220 and painted white, it looks brand new.
Also check out Harbor Freight. I'm going to add one of their tool cabinets to my trailer. The one I saw in the store was about 2 1/2 ft high by 3 1/2 ft long, 8 to 10 in deep. It has 3 lockable doors and some adjustable shelves. Regular price was $58, they sometimes have it on sale for $38.

    Default Formica top

I bought an 8 ft pre-fab formica counter top at Home Depot. It has the backsplash to catch things and wears like iron. I hold it up on the two ends with angle iron bolted to the wall and a set of drawers underneath in the middle to support it. The botom half of a roller tool cabinet works well.

I also put a 2x4 across the floor for a kick plate to hold fuel jugs, crates, jump start battery, etc from rolling around in teh trailer. No tie downs are required.
