I've been able to use gears from Boston Gear for a few things, but always had them heat treated after modifying - they are dead soft to begin when you get them.
You might also look at Rush Gears if your strength needs are beyond what the Boston Gears will give you, as well as
Gear Motions, and Precision Gears.

Another excellent company - probably one of the best in the country ( they used to make the Ring & Pinion for March and a lot of Trans Am teams) is Arrow Gear. It's been 15 tears or more since I last used them for some airplane refueling rigs for O'Hare, so I can't vouch for how they are now.

In any case, if you have to get them custom made, expect the costs to be rather high.

Paul Guard at Guard Transaxle is extremely highly-regarded for his gears for racing Porsches, vintage VW vans, and probably more.
Very nice guy, too.

This is not for a racing application rather for a product concept I'm working on. Probably could be handled at most machine shops but I heard gear cutting is a bit specialized. Just wanted to test the apexspeed waters. Always came thru in the past!
Thanks for the replies.
If you want to keep it in the Apexspeed family you could try Gary Hickman at Edge Engineering. I seem to recall him telling me that he had gear hobbing capabilities.

How many? If it's just a couple, then depending how nice you need them to be I can have them waterjet or wire cut for you. Waterjet is cheap but they will be slightly rough and tapered. Edm will be more precise and perfect.
Need 6-8 pieces. tolerances not that critical .proof of concept at the moment. I have done all I can do but need some machining skills now.
