Swift DB-1 Chassis plate

Any of you DB-1 owners be willing to post a picture of your chassis plate? Somewhere down the line it seems to have disappeared from my car. Just curious to see what they look like up close.

What year is your car? From what I have been told, Swift did have chassis plates until the 1986 model year...

The only one that I have seen is on Peter Calhoun's '86. It's on the front roll hoop down square tube between the shocks (see attachment).

Mine is a 1984. I'd still like to get a close up picture of a plate if anyone can post one.

I had 84-014, and it did not have a plate when I bought it in 86. I was the second owner. The numbers were just stamped where the plate in the picture is.

I have an 87 DB-2 S2000 and it has a plate that appears to be the same as the picture posted by PRU.

You can get a new plate from Swift, but it is a little larger, than what likely was on your car originally.

My first DB-1 was 1986. It did not have a chassis plate. Delivered spring 1986

Hi - I bought a brand new 85 DB-1 (in 1985). It did not have a plate. My experience is that DB-1's that I have worked on have the number stamped into the frame on top of the dash bulk head. Neil

Every car that left Swift had a chassis plate. Most get removed by previous owners or mechanics who have them on thier trophy case or tool box. The numbers stamped on the roll over bars were put there by SCCA during first tech inspection. The plates before 1988 read "Swift Cars" with a Anaheim address, from late 1988 on they read "Swift Race Cars" with a San Clemete address. From 1997 on (007.i - 016.a) the cars have a larger plate that reads "Swift Engineering Inc." it includes a line for type of engine, this was needed during the Champ Car days.

Well apparently my DB1 is one of the few w/ a factory chassis ID plate #044-86. Below is a close-up of what -Pru- previously posted.


BTW- this is the Swift on the cover & featured in the March issue of Sportscar. Under 50 road races from new and it will be present at the 40th Anniversary in July.

Thread resurrection!

I have DB3 06085 (# stamped on the top of the front roll structure). The holes are present where the original chassis plate would have been so it must have had one.

Who should I contact at Swift these days to get a replacement?

Update on this - I was able to contact Swift Engineering (as they are called now), but they no longer supply any race car parts or information.

Apparently all the old race car documentation is stored off-site and non-digital (= paper?), basically they've moved on.

So I have done a reasonable draft of the original (Anaheim) chassis plate and will see if I can get one made:

I'm sure that would be possible, yes.
