Default non-racing iPhone question for a tech guru

With the widespread knowledge base here, maybe someone can enlighten me?

Subject is blocking junk text messages.
I know how to block specific numbers. I also know how to 'report junk' messages (which I'm told does not block future messages from that sender oddly enough).

Is there an iPhone trick (analogous to the Gmail one) whereby you can block messages containing key words, rather than by sender identification, since these spammers seemingly generate an infinite number of alphabetic 'from' identifications.

    thx

Another useful filter would be “block all numbers in area code xxx that are not in my contacts “

In an Iphone you can select "Settings"
    Scroll down and select "Phone"
Scroll down and select "silence unknown callers"

You're phone won't ring unless the caller is in your contact list.
Some carriers like ATT and Verizon have a spamblocker app available. Search "Spam call blocker" and download/install the app.

thx, thought of that, but that blocks everyone(!) not in my contacts list, risky for a self-employed contractor....

I really just want to block any message containing "netflix account" :-)

Completely understand. One of the call blockers queries the caller before putting the call through. That might help.

Have you tried contacting your wireless carrier? I get about 20-30 spam calls/day that are blocked.
