History
Chassis number 30F–75–33R. Eight owners from new in 1975.
Purchased new in 1976 as a 1600 cc Formula Ford by Bruce Feldman. Raced by Feldman in 9 SCCA events in 1977 before he moved on to other series. With a solid foundation in Formula Ford, Feldman went on to win the Barber Saab Pro Series championship in 1988 after finishing runner up in 1987.
Feldman sold the car in 1978 to Joseph Eways who ran it for a year before he sold it. The car changed hands another 4 times in the 80s and 90s before finding its longtime owner Mike Rand in 2000, who took meticulous care of the Crossle for the next 21 years.
Mike Rand’s racing pedigree reads like a who’s who of US road racing masters. Mike began racing with a Lotus 20 in 1968 and after winning an SCCA Divisional championship, he switched to a Brabham BT21 and won the 1970 Formula C National Championship Runoffs at Road Atlanta … He switched between Formula B and C cars in the 1970s, then won the pole at the Runoffs in 1980 … Has raced Formula Fords since 1992 with four wins and a 1994 NARRC Club Ford class title … Mike ran this Crossle from 2000 through 2021, converting to a Honda Fit setup in 2011 through Eric Langbein Racing of Annapolis, MD. Mike also left a positive mark in racing outside the cockpit as an instructor/manager of the Skip Barber Racing School between 1981-88, manager of the Barber-Saab Pro Series from 1986-88, vice president and general manager of Lime Rock Park between 1992-98, and oversaw the high-quality resurrection of VIRginia International Raceway in 1999-2000 and most recently was the Series Administrator of the F2000 Championship Series.
In 2022 Mike sold the car to me and my son Garrett Dettman.
