    Default Street car from Canada

Friend recently purchased a 1997 Porsche that is a Canadian car. Car is in the States now, so bring over border not an issue, but has never been registered in the USA. What will the issue be in getting it registered?

Are some states easier then others on this?

Based on cars listed on BAT, the easy button seems to be creating a Montana LLC, and registering the car there. No sales tax IIRC, and no fussy formalities around emissions etc.

On edit: I have the opposite problem. I am looking at buying a car from the US and importing to Canada. For cars >15 years old, no big problem. Just requires money. The stratospheric USD makes it challenging these days.

I have LLC's for real estate. Too much paper work each year just for a car. K1's and all that stuff.

A Canadian car in the usa cannot be legally registered without the EPA and border import paperwork. This paperwork can NOT be completed after the car has arrived, the car needs to leave the country (which could be complicated in itself), then re-imported properly.
