    Default Nitrogen pressure in Bilsteins?

I have Bilsteins that have nitrogen ports. Does anyone know what the max and min pressures might be for such a shock?

    Default Bilstein Pressures

Angelo Zarro at ANZE would be an expert on this, but I would start in the 150 psi range and work up from there.

Given its vintage and presumably softly sprung, I might start at 150 and go down from there. So many other factors as well though...

I presume those are somebody's mods. Cool.

I have never seen a Bilstein, that was not mangled, that leaked. So assuming someone tricked out those shocks, and may have known what they were doing, I would start by measuring the pressure in them. Perhaps there is enough consistency to suggest a desired pressure.

Again, any Bilstein I worked on, appeared to have much less than 150 psi. I would guess 60-80 psi as totally unscientific commentary. If on a softly sprung Formula Ford, I would personally start at 80 psi, and try 60, 100, 125, 150. I expect you want to run as soft as you can with the fluid staying stable. A 10 min run on various pressures at Summit should indicate what pressure is desirable.

Perhaps the tuner wanted to boost the pressure, in contrast to my theory. Good luck!

    Default Thanks for the ideas

I will check with Angelo for sure. They all had 100 in them, so the previous tuning seems to have had that as a baseline.

Steve, I think 100 psi is a good starting point. Those have the schrader valve mod so they can be rebuilt like a normal shock without using a specialized Bilstein rig/setup to depressurize and repressurize the shock.

Stop by and see us if you have any questions on the shocks at Summit! Curious to learn more about what's in them and where they came from.

    Default Will do

    Will,

Thanks for the confirmation. I am trying to figure out how to get the Royale and the Wyvern to Summit. Currently pinging Jim Little to see if he has space in a trailer.

I have not opened these dampers up. You think they might tricks inside? See you in a few weeks

    Default I did

But it was a mess. I would have to remove a lot of trailer furniture to make it work.
Bob Wright is looking for a solution for me.
Tom has a long trailer but I don't know if it is licensed and what it might cost me.
