Working on a Stock Car that will be Road racing soon .
The transponder is mounted in left rear per rules of former life
Is there any advantage to moving it up Front where I have always
had them on formula Cars?

If your race sanctioning body scores position visually by the timing and scoring team, then placement in the rear of the car is fine and likely less vulnerable to damage from a shunt.
If they score position solely by the transponder, then put it as far up front as you dare...

Thanks for the Info. I plan to move transponder to front.
If I mount it on radiator support it will have to shoot through
a thin maybe 1/8th carbon fiber shroud .
Will it go through carbon OK.
I know it will go through Fiberglass OK,
If not, how big a hole do I need to drill.
Thanks

Since it is supposedly a magnetic signal I think CF will not bother it - if it does, here is a link on the hole needed.

Carbon fiber functions much like a Faraday Cage. It does interfere with transponder signaling.

I had a car come through my shop last week that had the transponder mounted sideways. I thought to myself, that's frigged up and I should correct it for the customer but then again, that's how it's been working for three years that I've known the car. Screw it, I'll save the customer a half hour of labor time and leave it be.

If it is pointed forward he may be on to something.

I’d think twice about getting way up front in case of s crash. The old AMB ones are really rare and those new subscription ones are a pain or got me it was. I got my money back after getting yo the track twice and not working.
