    Default Van Dieman RF86

    Dose anyone out there know what a Van Dieman RF86 weight less driver?

    This is probably not the greatest answer:

    3/17/2016
    My RF85 with RF86 longer suspension with the euro angles for treaded Dunlops was overweight at
    LF 180 RF 182 LR 284 RR 303 TTL 949 49.1%

    4/1/2016
    As a comparison my Piper Honda on the same scales and scales setup weighed:
    LF 199 RF195 LR 273 RR 271 TTL 938 49.9%

    The RF85 fiberglass had been redone which added a little. When we ran Pro Tour 1600 in Montreal in 2014 I think my RF85 was the heaviest car in the pack, Ha. It had also had the front 16 inches of the frame replaced by my going almost exactly into a concrete wall at about 75MPH (AIM GPS speed) so there might have been a little weight added during the rather excellent rebuild of the frame.

    Thanks Jim was hoping there would be around the 400kg mark I know my old RF89 was 402kg and RF90 was 395kg. Did you know if any light 86s running around at that sort of weight?

    My RF86 used for autocross weighs 940 lb with full fuel (5 gal) and no fire system.

    Any accurate comparison of weights for cars on each side of the pond will be irrelevant without factoring in the wheels and tires. Toyos, Hoosier radials, Hoosier slicks, or Hoosier vintage tires all have a large variance in weight, as do various wheels. I expect the variation in the US combinations may be as much as 10 Kg.

    Yes the tyres can change the weight a fair bit the historic (here is pre90) cars actually run on the Avon ACB9 which is a quite light tyre , Kent modern run the heavy Sedan Yokie tyre the difference is about 8kg overall and a heap of mass too rotate for a low hp car, so certainly taking all this into consideration

    I was actually looking at a Piper 86 which is just a VD86 with a DB1 body fitted too it too possibly purchase so wanting too know the car weight of an 86 as I’m no jockey and don’t want a car too heavy, being an American car did anyone know anything about then?

    As Greg said, and how about:

    steel or aluminum floor? how thick?
    battery make and size?
    aluminum or steel brake calipers?
    aluminum or steel diff carrier?
    is the seat included, and what type?
    does it include radio and data system components and wiring?
