    Post '78 Zink Club Ford

PRICE REDUCED,,,got to sell. This one is ready to race. Former owner just spent $6k ( with all receipts) to get it ready for the Vintage Wars---NEW : ATL fuel cell, all calipers and brake pads, three (3) new hydraulic cylinders.. plus clutch slave(clutch and two brake) battery, throttle cable, changed all fluids, and corner weighted and aligned the car. Comes with four brand new mounted Hoosiers plus four good mounted Dunlops, all on Revolution wheels and a charged fire system. Transponder included.
Spares include seven gear sets, 2 noses, 2 sway bars (differing sizes), A arms, gasket set and miscellaneous pieces.
It is now sitting atop an open trailer, with all ramps and tie downs with new hubs and hitch, pus trailer jack. I bought the car with all intentions to race it with RMVR...but I have discovered I'm just too damn old. Run Vintage or SCCA. It has four SCCA log books dating to '78. Take all for $10,000 OBO. Car is in Park City, Utah and I will deliver a reasonable distance. This has a hot motor, with only four races and little practice. Drive to the front! e-mail for pics. Fits a good sized driver. sold sold sold

What model Zink are you selling. The Z10 was out of production in 1978 and the Z16 was just starting production.

I am Citation. The Cations started with the Z14 which was nothing more than a Z11 air cooled Super Vee with a new aluminum monocoque chassis. That car proved to be very good and the Z16 is a direct out growth of the Z14. I designed the chassis of the Z14 chassis but I copied the front bulkhead and engine bay and rear suspension from Ed Zink's Z10/Z11. The Z16 was all Zink designed but he took the layout of the Z14 roll bar structures. All the Z10 chassis were built built in Charlotte, NC. Zink Manufacturing was sold to a guy in 1977/78. That guy may have built a car or 2, but I don't know. Ed Zink was doing design work for me on the Z16 at that time. If you car came from my shop, then you have labeled it wrong.

So I don't know what you have.

Will you please do me a favor...go to KSL.com Classifieds, Recreational vehicles, race cars and take a look at the pictures. I'd sure appreciate knowing what the car is too. Thanks very much...and sorry If I have spoken out of turn. I just purchased and was relying on what the seller and the log books say. Thanks for any help. Mike E

If I'm keeping track correctly, Mike's car was purchased from Gary Wagner in Knoxville, TN. Gary had stated it was a Z10C.

Some searching found Mike's ad in his local paper

I wish I had room for it! The only year the Z10 won the Runoffs was 1977 (Dave Weitzenhof), along with several top 10s 1975-1979

Hi Garey, You are absolutely correct it was the car I recently sold to Mike in Utah....I sold it on my Ebay site k3omi and if you look the site up you will see under sold listings the original complete auction listing...

It is a proper car on multiple log books starting in 1978 with Oma Kimbrough....
I had lots of additional and correct info in my auction....

Only sold it because I never got comfortable in the car....
I have gone back to my roots, building a SCCA MINI Cooper for B Spec...

You should have put that link up with your original post.

The car is a Zink Z10 for sure. The roll bars have been changed and the front roll hoop added. None of the Z10s had roll bars that meet today's standards. The C designation would indicate that the car was updated to the Z10C configuration, which was came out in 1977 to 1978. The vast majority of the cars that were updated were only updated to the wide front track version. There was a Z10C rear upright that had the shock mount moved from the lower a-arm to the rear upright. That change gave a very modest improvement at the rear but the wide track front was the biggest improvement of the Z10C package. No cars were built with as Z10C originally.

The radiator system on this car should really work well, especially if there are some turning vanes inside to help turn the air into the radiator core.

I think I can see a tube at in the engine bay that goes vertically between the side engine mount boss and the lower frame rail. This would be a very late car in the production if that is the case.

There are several updated to the Z10C package that made more improvements but this picture does not show those details.

All in all, this looks like a very nice car.
