Default Looking for setup suggestions for a battery for trailer jack

My trailer currently only has a small 12v 5ah battery for the trailer brake away function. I added an electric trailer jack and it currently only works when the truck is hooked up. I would like to add a battery to run the jack and the trailers interior lights without the truck. The jack draws a max of 25 amps. I'm thinking a 12v 50ah battery should be enough. I will also be wiring the 12v supply from the truck to the battery so the battery charges when the truck is connected. Is it okay to run the trailer brake away circuit to that battery as well, so I don't have to use 2 batteries?

    1. Make the jack battery match one in race car.... you'll have a spare if/when needed for race car. 2nd battery can be "drop in/out" for trailer jack.....lights.... when disconnected from tow car.
    2. Don't mess with battery for trailer brakes. Seen too often folks use those for lights/other in trailers only to have no juice when brake battery should have been ready.... definitely not a wise move. Also, may appear on accident report (a liability) if hard wired for other uses.

I single hand my car, so need a winch to get it in the trailer, I installed a battery in the trailer to power the winch, same lawn tractor battery as in my FM, then bought a solar panel. Bolted it to the roof and wired it to the trailer battery to keep it charged at all times, works great. Then I added jumper cables from the trailer battery/solar charger and connect the jumpers to the FM battery so it’s charging when it’s in the trailer and the sun is shining.

How about wiring a quick disconnect and use your jump battery?

I also recommend a size that can be used in your car in an emergency.
