    Default What Tires?

I may be running my PRS 82F in some scca regionals. I'm confused about tires. There are bias r60's listed on Hoosiers website as CF and radial r60s listed as FF. Can someone enlighten me. TIA

The radial is the SCCA FF spec tire. Some regional areas use the bias tire as their spec CF tire. You may want to check out the RCFFS as an option to SCCA, as they will welcome you with vintage or bias or radial. Other MI CF racers support that series and can help you get your car sorted.

Races at M-O (May 1) and PIRC (June 20).

    Default Club Ford tires

CF is a Regional (Divisional?) class and each Division makes its own rules. I was the CF liaison for a number of years (maybe I still am!) in Great Lakes Division and we re-wrote the tire rules a while back to be more clear and inclusive. At that time CF was a class for 1981 and older cars so you might want to check to see if that is still the case. Again, my comments refer to GLDiv only.

Regarding tires, most everyone uses Hoosiers with R60A compound. The bias tires are the traditional CF tire with the extra wide rears (Hoosier 43130 and 43307). When the radial spec tire was approved for National-level FFs we made that legal for CF as well (Hoosier 43322 and 43327).

For some reason I can't see the GLDiv rule pages for Regional classes online, but this is all spelled out there.

All the best, let me know if you have any questions.

I expect both RCFFS and FVCC results can count toward SCCA licence upgrades and retention. Hope you can check out an event. You will enjoy it. Cheers!

Thanks Chuck, any idea of suspension changes needed for radials?

A search on this site should give you plenty of ideas...and opinions...on that topic.

    I ran the Bias R60's on my 82F from '87 - '92.
I loved them, were good for 15 -18 or so heat cycles with not a lot of drop off.
If Hoosier hasn't changed the Compound Formula in the last 29 years, I think you'll be happy with them.
